Big Ten Releases Amended Schedule

The Big Ten has released its 2024 amended schedule after the addition of Oregon and Washington.

Here’s USC games:

Home: Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers, Wisconsin.

Away: Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Washington, UCLA.

REACTION: The big one, of course, is the trip to Michigan. The other Midwest road trips are not bad. This seems pretty favorable.

The home schedule is attractive compared to Pac-12 standards so selling tickets should be easier.

I guess USC won’t play Michigan and Ohio State in the same season, at least initially.

“There were a couple of things on the sequencing of home and away, especially with some of the teams that are in our league, that we didn’t agree with,” said Lincoln Riley.

The truth is these games will seem tougher without Caleb Williams.

  4. What sequencing doesn’t Riley agree with? USC plays UCLA and Washington at home this year. They play them both on the road next year. 4 conference Home Games versus 5 conference road games in the year USC plays Notre Dame at home, which is the current practice.

  8. So SC will not play Ohio St, the class of the original Big-10,
    for 3-years until 2026 and then again in 2027, but does get Michigan in 2024 and 2025

    It is almost here so the early line has SC as a slight underdog to ND a week from Saturday with likely a 9-3 or 10-2 season-ending record, and Oregon is the favorite in the Pac-12 with Wash and SC close behind

  9. Texas and Michigan seem to be the national leaders at halfway point
    with Georgia, Ohio St and Alabama not as good as in the past

    So there is hope for SC if they can hold teams to under-40;
    Can Grinch wrench the needed effort from his defensive troops?

Either get this defensive front 7 to cover the gaps and stop giving up big plays or stop blitzing so much, play a straight up defense where all the gaps are covered because there is very little stunting, looping and blitzing. This SC team has enough really good players to do that(especially on the D-Line).
        One of the problems could be that this team is just slacking off preparing for what one poll said was the toughest 2nd half of the year schedule in the country. If you ever watch milers run…..the mile is 4 laps…..many times they will go out fast in the first 2 1/2 laps just to get position and not get boxed in but then they will glide for the next lap or 1 1/4 laps preserving their energy for their kick at the end of the race when everyone is making a mad rush for the finish line. They don’t want to die in the final stretch.
        Maybe SC is doing that now. They started out well in the first 3 games and have been gliding in the last 2 games psychologically(and maybe even unconsciously) preparing for that final stretch starting with ND.
