Towel Wavers Make Impression

A former USC All-American attended the Notre Dame game and this was one of the things he noticed the most watching the contest.

“I’m having a tough time with the guys on the sideline waving towels and jumping up and down. That is not the USC that I know.

“USC really, really has lost the true essense of what Trojan football is all about. We weren’t cheerleaders. We whipped you because we were prepared to play. As a former Trojan, I was embarrassed

“It’s not what you do when you are part of a powerhouse program. This is not the USC that I know. I’m shocked by it.”

  1. That’s what Lincoln Riley has brought to the program, a soft sweet touch. The tough reputation that USC once had is gone, thanks to Riley, and Clay Helton. After watching a few national college football broadcasts, I’ve come to the conclusion that no one fears the Trojans shield. It’s really TCU, Texas Tech, and Washington State in disguise 🥸

      My guess is he’ll eat a lot of his contract just to get the fuck out of Dodge.

      2. If he really wants the T A&M job, it’s because he knows that the Aggies will pay big bucks for players and SC won’t. The NCAA must do something about this. Otherwise the only teams that will win big are the teams with the big money

        If Lincoln Riley or anyone else believes he has a shot at the Dallas Cowboys or any other high profile coaching job, they’re delusional.

        ‘Ol Mule Shoe and his boyfriend Alex Grinch just coached themselves out of consideration for any quality coaching jobs in the future.

        They both showed they don’t give two shits about defenses or being tough in the trenches…they exposed how stupid and soft their style is and it doesn’t work.

        Those country boy pansie asses showed everyone how incompetent and weak they are, they’re done.

    I am not sure if I have ever witnessed such a tidal wave of jumping off the SC bandwagon.

    This is an interesting Trojan team with Celeb and it is capable of winning every game left on its schedule, even one with the ‘Webfoots’

      3. Sparrow, the reality is that you watch the game with the eyes of a child, your team may win but you ignore the flaws that will be exposed by teams who are of equal or better talent, are you really Coach 162 ?

    2. The distribution curve for SC winning the remaining games is heavily skewed toward not happening. Of course, maybe out of 100 games played USC could beat Oregon or Washington in 7 of them.

      Unless Riley makes some major changes to the offense and defense, it wont get much better.

  10. Let me guess, it was Ronnie Lott, and I agree with him 100%. Its just another layer of Happy Horeshit that CLR has brought to USC. When you are an elite program, like USC once was, then you don’t need gimmicks like alternative helmets, red shoes, yellow/black/red tights, some jackwagon DJ in the Coliseum spinning bullshit music to keep the fans “pumped up”, etc. In the words of John “Bluto” Blutarsky; What the fuck happened to the USC I used to know?

    1. At least Helton had sense enough to hire a legit defensive coordinator in Clancy Pendergast. Now Pendergast wasn’t nowhere near elite, but his defenses saved Helton’s ass on many occasions through the years. It wasn’t Pendergast fault that Helton didn’t care about recruiting quality defensive players, he had to work with what he was given, which wasn’t much and he didn’t do all that bad of a job considering.

  12. I think this goes way beyond the towel wavers. This goes right up to the top and Carol “Woke” Folt.

    The problem is that Carol wants the benefits of having a winning team, but she wants it to be a neutered, female, hollywood version of football that is completely devoid of the USC fan base that is conservative, male and doesnt care about what pronouns you select.

    So she destroyed the Alumni clubs. She hired a coach that would accept not participating in NIL. She makes the games into carnivals that would appeal to the people she hasnt pushed away.

    I’m not sure the new athletic director will have the gravitas to get Riley on the right track.

    Scott must be loving the current problems at USC. It fits right into his narrative.

    1. Gametv: I really can’t stand Carol Folt. She does not deserve to be President of USC or any other university or large organization. She was given the position based on criteria that did not include merit. But I do not blame her for the woes of the football team. USC under Helton switched to the Air Raid because they could no longer recruit top lineman and there offensive line coaches could not develop the players they had. It was an admission of failure in the trenches. So it makes no sense to change the offense to a ground and pound model such as Michigan until we have the offensive line to pull it off. Maybe if Elijah Paige and Alana Noa develop into top offensive lineman in a year or two we can gradually incorporate a physical running attack. Until then, we are stuck with a passing league offense.

  15. It’s as if LR doesn’t acknowledge the ageless formula for a natty. It’s almost like he doesn’t watch the the big boys play. Don’t get it. But what magnifies the frustration more than anything, is these Helton’esq press conferences where he minimizes or omits the obvious weaknesses and shows no anger at himself or his assistants. It’s almost the worst part of this season.
