USC Notes: Where’s The Physicality?

I know it sounds unrealistic, but does USC have any linebackers that remind you of Chip Banks, Junior Seau or Chris Claiborne?

The reason I ask is because a coach told me he thought Eric Gentry was too thin to play linebacker. I’ve been a fan of Gentry — especially compared to some of the other USC linebackers — although he hasn’t played much this season.

But the comment kind of applies across the board. Do any of the USC linebackers look remind you physically of some of the past greats? It ties in to the belief USC is not a physical team. I think the strength program needs an examination but like everything else it was transported from Oklahoma and Lincoln Riley doesn’t seem to adapt.

        Interesting point GoTroy22. The thought even crossed my mind that Zach is down on the depth chart for disciplinary reasons. LR is all about the culture and would not be happy with a freshman receiver mocking the secondary. Players and coaches read this blog. The sad thing is that Zach may never have made the statement attributed to him. Gabby probably made the whole thing up to make himself look like someone who has inside information. Think about it, can you see the head coach of Gorman High School talking to Gabby about text messages that he received from Zach’s father. Give me a break. Gabby is a pathological liar. He also claims that he plays high stakes poker with Dana White and once won $30,000.

  2. The SC run defense looked pretty physical against ND and held them to about 250 total yards, although it was a pecular contest with SC leading the turnovers 5-0

    I still see Celeb not prepared and shocked at the surprise ND rush to start the game and how he panicked and just threw 3 soft passes off his back foot while retreating. The guy is still learning how to play.
    Instead, maybe SC should ease him into the game mixing in some running plays for the backs

He was the best on the West Coast, a 5 star, first at his position and number three overall. He missed the NIL money by two years. How would we feel if we had paid him $250,000 to attend USC? (A&M would have paid him more.) And if you do that, what do you pay Tackett Curtis, Shelby Conley, Elijah Paige, Alana Noa, or Bear Alexander to transfer. And do you pay incoming men basketball recruits. How about the women. Seems like you talking about a big, maybe uncontrollable, number.
