USC-Utah Live Blog

It’s over. What an underachievement. The offensive line is terrible. The defense couldn’t stop Utah from getting a field goal at end. Bear Alexander is undisciplined. Lincoln Riley yelling at officials because he knows his team is falling apart.

USC lost to a Utah team with its backup QB.

Is this game going to come down to a 2-point conversion?

Just when it looks like Utah might put this game away, Caleb Bullock gets a pick six and it’s a ball game. Utah 28, USC 23.

I keep criticizing the strength program. Tonight is another great example.

Utah pushing the USC defense around on that first drive of the second half.

Good thing for USC that Cam Rising is not playing today.

The offensive line has been terrible in the first half.

Caleb Williams sure doesn’t look like he’s bounced back from Notre Dame.

USC holds Utah and Caleb Williams hits Tahj Washington on a deep pass. USC leads, 14-7.

USC’s defense looks horrible to start the game. But the good news for the Trojans is so does Utah.

Jarrett Kingston warmed up at right tackle and Mason Murphy at right guard before the game. What does it say about your line if all of a sudden the right guard is moving to right tackle in Game 8?

  • Look at how sparse the crowd is during the band’s pre-game show.

    1. An absolute mockery of coaching by Riley- his Offense is crap, defense is crap- team has no discipline , they’re unorganized when it’s crunch time both offensively and defensively- I said after the 1st few games- this was a 4 loss team- they are well on their way

    1. And unload Caleb the “Glory Swine.” What a pathetic, two-bit loser.

The prick swine stays on the loser bench moaning and whining over his major Clown U loss instead of congratulating the winning Utah QB!!!!!

  1. USC is not a well coached team in totality all phases. All the motivation to win this game. To come out and play well and execute. Notre Dame whooped your ass last week. But no intestinal fortitude to get it done today.

  2. Any one notice the early 2pt conversion which caused the second 2pt conversion? Both were pathetic play design. Negligent game management prevented at worst, over time. Our coached once again. At 115m you should never be out coached. Now it’s a regularity. But we knew this team was frodulent from game one.

    1. Absolutely- 1st off- were those even plays? If Riley thinks his shitty Offense will work in the nfl- he’s delusional- hell, it’s doesn’t even work in college when facing a good defense. Between the multiple lapses on the field , crap recruiting- how the hell did this jackass get this high of a salary- can’t wait for the candy coated message about how his team battled and how proud he is of them…. What a farce

    2. And by the way, if you are more talented than the teams you are playing, and you are getting handled, you are getting completely out coached (that’s the definition) even if you claim the team is out played, then that is a coaching issue too.

      1. I agree. I’m sick and tired of teams like Utah consistently do more with less. USC has not been able to develop superior talent since Pete Carroll. How is it that USC has been so light in the as* for so long in the trenches?

  3. Lincoln is losing the fan base. The problem is that this looks like Clay Helton 2.0. PTSD is being triggered every Saturday night.

What bothers me more than anything are the substitutions and constant checks while the play clock is running down and the way it slows down the tempo, right when they had the Utah defense reeling. Why do they need to sub on every play?

I hope the new athletic director is smart enough to guide this program back.

Is USC the new Texas A&M, with a massive buyout to get rid of an underperforming head coach?

  4. Should have run time off the clock before going in for the last score knowing Grinch’s defense is shit and they wouldn’t be able to stop Utah

  5. I’m not mad at Caleb for staying on the bench at the end. He understood everything that was just lost and frankly it’s hard to accept in the moment. It’s not being a poor sport, it’s being a fierce competitor that saw every goal he had for the season go down the toilet.

Grinch needs to go, Riley needs to be further humbled because his arrogance has hindered the development of this team. It’s amazing that this far in to his coaching tenure (counting OU) he hasn’t learned to hire personnel capable of developing a defense. We’re watching him regress as an offensive play caller as well. For goodness sake stop calling quick screen options, they do not work against quality opponents.

On to playing role of spoiler and wondering what could have been.

    1. Actually it is Celeb Williams being a bad sport. In hockey every player shakes hands with the other teams coaches and players after the final game of the Stanley Cup. No one hides on the bench. Celeb needs to grow up. He likes being a millionaire Dr Pepper commercial public figure except for the times when things don’t go his way. Maybe he should have waited until he won a team championship first… even just a Pac 12 championship. He isn’t going to win a NC for us.

Who could have imagined USC football is reduced from the heady days of Pete Carroll 2 decades ago to now being a spoiler.

      2. Agree to disagree. Sometimes you just gotta sit in the moment and let the pain of the moment sink in to so that you can grow from it. You think Utah cares the Caleb didn’t walk up to say good game? They were too busy flashing upside down “Victory” signs to mock the Trojans. That’s poor sportsmanship.

  7. The coach that just beat us 3 times in a two seasons with one third the talent made a pretty open play to coach at USC but he wasn’t cool enough. Yet they won the last two conference championships and played for the last 4.

I know the job as HC at SC as a Big 10 school is less alluring but there are good coaches out there that could do wonders with the talent and resources.

Anyway, we need Riley to the NFL. Let’s keep blaming Grinch so Riley can fool some idiots in a NFL office.
