  2. As a young man, I visited London, Paris, Munich, West Berlin, Rome, and other beautiful cities in Europe but nothing was as beautiful as San Francisco. A wonderful city. Seattle, Chicago, and New York were also beautiful cities. But they are all shit now. And we know why but do not implement the policies to fix it. Shameful.

  4. The photos of the USC band in San Francisco brings back good memories. I am going to miss the Cal. vs. USC games and Stanford games. Blasted realignment – a necessary but unwanted development. I used to visit Union Square in San Francisco a few weeks before the Christmas Holiday for almost 15 straight years with my wife. The Christmas tree in the center of the square was magnificent. So was the ice rink and the wreaths arounds the windows of Macy’s. But what I really enjoyed was the music of the old Jewish psalm “O come o come Emmanuel” that could be heard throughout the square. It was haunting as you walked around shopping for your Christmas gifts. An absolutely beautiful song. Used to transform me. I hope they are still playing it today when drug addicts and prostitutes sleep on the streets where tourist once walked. They need that psalm and so do we. Emmanuel – the God who walks among his people.

      1. Yes Gabby, I am very sentimental. Why? Because I love God and the attributes of God – truth, beauty, and goodness. So I enjoy a lighted Christmas tree, beautiful music especially a psalm, architecture, a good book, history, attending an opera or or concert or play, watching a football game, visiting my friends and family and eating a good meal, and of course going to mass on Sundays. I feel blessed that I enjoy these things. It would be awful if I did not see the beauty of what God has given us.

  6. The point is this is a great old school rivalry and the San Francisco rally is a time honored tradition as long as I’ve been alive and certainly even longer. The fortunes of a city come and go, the details of which are boring, but the feel of the rivalry continues. The fact this is the last for the foreseeable future is significant, really the end of a long era. Having been to the Berkeley game now my 15th tomorrow, it is certainly sinking in how different the game will be when a rivalry like this goes by the wayside for some Maryland and Perdue schedule fillers.
