Well, not even Cal could be an easy victory.
It’s amazing how USC can underachieve this season on a weekly basis.
Cal was down to its fourth-and-fifth string tailback and still lost by only a point. The USC defense is beyond hope and the offense is plagued by inconsistency as the offensive line can’t provide pass protection and Caleb Williams seems increasingly affected by it.
Aren’t you glad Lincoln Riley made it back for the game? What does he bring to the table at this point? His disdain for a special teams coach looks silly when Denis Lynch misses a field goal and extra point.
What does USC do well? Where is it improving? Four pass interfernce penalties today. It’s obscene some of the mistakes that keep happening.
I find it exhausting to watch USC.
“I believe this team can win this league, hell yeah I do,” Riley said after the game.
Yeah, right! Riley is delusional.
The next three weeks are going to be a bloodbath for USC. Not only are they not a disciplined team with numerous 15 yard penalties, they are not physically or mentally tough on the offensive or defensive lines. I’d like to know what type of hippie lettuce CLR is ingesting because USC should’ve lost this game with Cal gifting them four turnovers, and he thinks they can win the Pac-12. I know what the rah-rahs are going to say; “What’s CLR supposed to say?” Well, after the last five games, he needs to say, “We need to get better on all fronts in order to have a chance to win next week.”
Lastly, unless CLR makes four changes on his staff; A new Strength & Conditioning Coach, new Defensive Coordinator, New Offensive line coach, and Special Teams Coordinator, look for more of the same next season and beyond at USC.

That’s what’s confusing. Is he really that much of an egomaniac whereas he won’t admit how pathetic this team looks on defense and offensive line, or worse maybe he really can’t see it. Perhaps the latter since he is an Air raid disciple.

While watching, my son and I were hoping Grinch would get tarmac’d after the game. But since he held Cal below 50, no such luck.
The O-line is abysmal. Hate to say this, but the last few games have been reminiscent of the Georgia Southern village idiot.

And USC is 2-7 against the Spread this season. They have failed to cover the spread in 6 straight games. They only have 1 double-digit conference win.

Will the new AD step in and address the obvious or is she a star struck figurehead? If she fires grinch and Williams, OC Lincoln Riley will need to step up and play HC. Nah this is look like Clay with a bigger contract.

Agree Buddha. Oregon is going to wreck us but maybe, at home, Trojans get up for UW and UCLA.
Saw on UCLA game, ESPN Analytics has UCLA at only a 33% chance to win game against USC…how can that be?! ESPN know something we don’t know?

The good news is the Bruins tend to choke when they walk inside the Coliseum for the last 25 years no matter who we have coaching. Even Paul Hackett, Lame Kiffin and Hugs could beat UCLA.

The problem is that you can’t live your season off of “well ucla us going to choke cause they always do”. Even if they do choke, is that what this program is going to rely on? Or do they get better and coach better and play better and beat teams cause you are are better and tougher. Or are y’all just praying for the other side to suck in the moment. No one wins any type of championship by hoping someone else will suck in the moment. You work, prepare and plan and you succeed way more often. Who knows who will win that game down the road, but either way at t this point and most likely at that point, Ucla is the better TEAM, the tougher TEAM, the smarter TEAM.

Maybe the team just needs a good old fashion chewing out. Might wake them up.

A real head coach would yell at those three aforementioned clowns and tell them to get their act together and fix their mess, no actually a real head coach would have never hired any of those idiots to begin with.

I grade this as, it was a dogfight with one of our oldest rivals and if you thought Cal was going out without a fight, then you done gone stupid. That was an all out gun fight and was amazing to see in person. #Dayslikethis

Scooter,
Where is Sorority girl aka the AD on this mess? Her first job is to blow up Cal and the PAX 12 for allowing the protest to happen. Most everyone knew. She needs to send the bill for delaying the takeoff of the plane. Why did security allow the terrorists on the field? They should have been stopped at the field level. Second, she needs to blow up the Pac 12 officiating for the last play in the first half. That should have been reviewed before the end of the first half. They did not review it that well. Officiating sucked and was for CAl. She needs to yell at the Pac 12 office on Monday and take no prisioners on this.
Riley and Grinch are incompetent at best. Even the Three Stooges are embarrased of them. Riley has no direction or vision on what the team should be. Hoping Helton plays SC in the Jimmy Kimmel Bowl and then we can see who is the worse coach.

When I got home to watch the game it was late and SC was trailing by 2 touchdowns when bam-bam-bam they score 3 to take the lead only to have Cal score one and then lose by going for 2.
What a game! And Wash did not look like any great shake across the way at Stan

Did you pause and ask yourself, “Why are the Trojans, led by Heisman Trophy Winner Celeb Williams, trailing last place Cal in the 4th quarter?”

TRUE…but…sc makes the most insignificant q/b look like a heisman candidate, and the other …teams rushing attack no matter how bad it has been like a juggernaught. While it is true anything can happen, this sc team seems destined for a 2-3 loss finish to the season…if they go 8-4 now I will be thrilled ’cause that means they beat ucla. They are not gonna’ beat Oregon or Wash. I was looking for a real SC team after spring ball, I got nothing even close. even the ‘O’ line has been a failure.Miracles do not usually happen in football,sc is not going to be in the Pac12 championship game.Probably a was/Oregon rematch.

Wiley had to make it up north otherwise who was going to call offensive signals, the Kling-On?
Nice to see Number-0 be a hero instead of the goat of Utah and they even elected him to lead the band
There were 6 dominos that must fall, and with Utah’s loss and SC’s win there are only 4 dominos left with Wash, Ore, sucla and then the Pac-12 championship game
After 2 losses the past 2 weeks must have been excruciating for the team, depressive even, but I bet they are partying now

USC is still a dumpster fire. Grinch is a complete moron. All he does is look clueless-yell at the players and stare at his clipboard. The game was being shown on the abysmal Pac 12 network-with Yogi Bear and crew. We turned off the game right after halftime and went to a barbecue at the neighbors house across the street.
I was a bit surprised to look at my phone later to see that they won? LOL. BTW-Oregon looked really good against Utah.
I am a bit confused, though. U of A, you know, the crappy team that USC beat (but barely-so they fell in the rankings) beat the 11th ranked Oregon State team? Oh, and that really strong number 5 ranked Washington team only beat “Crappy” Stanford by 9. Wasn’t that them team that USC beat by 46 points? None of the rankings make any sense anyways. I am sure that the writers will spin it-that the Pac-12 isn’t that good.
USC, please fire all of the defensive coaches now. I’m not holding my breath, though.

What really pisses me off about this team is that we see Eric Gentry come in and he is the most productive player on that field. Sure, he still messed up, but how good could he have been with more playing time and decent coaching? I wonder if Raesjon Davis also could have been really good with enough playing time? Tackett should have been developed as a freshman and waited in line. And Mason Cobb is too slow to really be great, so why even take him as a transfer? And why is Shane Lee EVER on the field? Brian Odom must be the worst linebacker coach in all of college football.
The coaching on the defensive side is a bunch of Keystone Cops. Just horrible. There is alot of player talent and some young talent like Christian Pierce, that can be coached into a good defense by the right DC and staff.
I want to see Grinch fired, so they can start to look for a new DC NOW! And Riley can go back to defensive recruits with a new DC that can pull in the right talent.
Write off this year and start the development for next year TODAY.

Of the 3 remaining games Wash (Defense) is the most winnable
with the ‘Webfoots being the Webfoots’ and surprising sucla sporting a top defense

Seems easy apparently to lose sight of ‘the big picture’-
But the part I saw of the 4th quarter with SC behind by 2 tds looking bleak
when in 8-minutes they score 3 tds to take the lead and eventually win
This is not quite the ’55-24 in ’74’ comeback’ game but it may be in the Top-10 figuring also it came in dire Trojan football times

We were at the Rose Bowl for that 1991 team that won the National Title with a great linebacker.
SC-Washington is a storied football rivalry that survived the ‘Pac-12 implosion
SC-Washington gets the locals’ blood up at its ‘Seattle’ stadium.
I’ve been in there and it was the only time I felt ‘crowd intimidation’
The Purple Gang along with the ‘Webfoots’ are ‘survival’ rivalries for SC
