Ceyair Wright Not With Team

Lincoln Riley said today that cornerback Ceyair Wright is no longer with the program.

Wright is “not with us right now, and that’s all I can say,” Riley said.

“He’s been one of the breakout players,” Riley said in the spring. ‘But his improvement and some of the playmaking that he’s had has been substantial. The difference has been as substantial as anybody on our roster.”

Never believe what Riley says in player evaluation. Never.

  1. Ok so now player not playing w.o. info from the head coach is said head coaches fault? Seen what that player did to Lane Kiffin this week? It’s not 1980 anymore Scott…attorneys live fir this crud if one is foolish enough to say ANYTHING.

  2. Ceyair Wright had speed and was a highly rated 4 star coming out of Loyola High
school. USC started him for multiple games last year and the first few games this year.
He didn’t perform. Looked lost. Gave up several touchdowns when receivers ran right by him. You can blame Ceyair or the coaching. I am inclined to believe it is the coaching. Has Donte Williams improved any USC cornerback? The secondary is the worst in the history of the program. Why is this clown still collecting a paycheck. Fire him. Every talented high school player regresses under his coaching.

  3. What is a football coach supposed to say about one of his players when he knows whatever he says is going to get back to the kid?– Got to be a diplomat when talking about him to third parties but can be blunt when talking to the player directly

The bottom line is ‘Is he on the field or not, and if not why not?’

  4. Just saw where ‘Kittin’ said his school has to recruit better to be a “contenda”
and that Georgia had 24 5-star players.

  5. I would be inclined to think it is the coaches more than the players. Example would be Jack Jones who was similar to Wright. He has been a starter in the NFL for several years. Or what about the terribly (at USC) inconsistent Tyler Hufunga. All he has done is make the Pro bowl.

    1. Pete needs to retire. He was great in his time. He’s 72 now. How long can you continue in a high pressure job like the NFL. It’s time to retire.
