It Pays To Remember What Lincoln Riley Says

One thing that benefits Lincoln Riley is no one remembers what he says.

For example, he said last week “Everything should be a little cleaner this week” for the defense in Week 2 with the co-interim defensive coordinators.

It’s kind of like when Riley got hired and said USC “is going to be the mecca of college football” and a couple years later wanted to know who raised the expectations so high?

  1. Paul Finebaum is not “the national media” by any stretch of the imagination. He’s an SEC honk and the American South’s version of Bill Plaschke: a master of phony clickbait of the sort that Scott Wolf dreams of producing.

    1. Paul Finebaum was 100% accurate with his assessment of Lincoln Riley, regardless of it being “clickbait”. Nobody cares about his agenda when the information is factual. USC fanboys have been screaming and crying for over a decade of Scott Wolfs criticism of Lane Kiffen, Steve Sarkisian, and Clay Helton. And all were fired because they deserved it.

  4. A 4-8 record in 2021. New coach in 2022, bringing in a transfer QB. Expectation was to be undefeated at this time and competing for a Playoff Spot. Mission Accomplished!! Congratulations Kaylen DeBoer and the Huskies making Seattle the Mecca of West Coast Football.

  5. Everyone but idiots or people who didn’t look closely knew that Stinkin Piley was a FRAUD and a CON ARTIST, and notice all the sports media guys are using those specific words.

    USC itself got what a lot of its fans wanted which wasn’t good football, but to win the initial presser and then bask in approval by the media. And don’t pretend all the folks like Finebaum that call Piley a fraud were not pouring praise on USC before. They poured praise on Helton and poured praise on Lane and his childish antics and losses and poured praise on that nasty, out of control druggie and drunk and even covered for him until he went bust. The press loves watching USC either win or run into a brick wall or jump into a dumpster fire pouring gasoline on itself– doesn’t matter, it’s all good for eyeballs and clicks.

    They knew Stinkin Piley and OU stacked up Presbyterian Blue Hose, Tulsa Golden Showers, UT @ El Paso Golden Miners, UL @ Monroe Mudfish, Wofford Terriers, Akron Zips, Kent State Golden Flashes, etc. twice a year. They knew Texas was out of wandering in dysfunction and even among that G5 conference of old Big 12, Baylor and the Horny Toads had a NCAA proctoscope a foot in their azzes, with one being on sanctions and probation back to back…

    He literally still squeaked out wins in those crap games (mostly) and and lost a couple every year inexplicably (!!!) then got to a bowl game and got the shit kicked out of him. And each year, as Stoops grip loosened it got worse, Stinkin Lincoln fed his fraud of running up passing stats at the cost of ever being a nationally competitive team so he could build the Stinkin Genius brand.

    And there are still sad, desperate fan boys that want a boyfriend in a visor that say, “Don’t let him go, we can be ‘friends’ me and Stinkin!” Well you’re getting half your wish, Stinkin is goin to be around for more mediocrity as USC descends into further irrelevance and a punchline. Stinkin will last a couple of years more, and USC isn’t sniffing a NC until at least 2030 or 2036 if then– if things are still around as we know them. My dear old ‘SC is shadow of itself, Hollywood U, all front and no substance and it has the head coach it deserves.

  6. The defense is so far away from any level of competence that it really makes no sense to expect any real improvement over two weeks.

    The core issues with this team are simple: blocking and tackling sucks. And the angle of pursuit for the defense is a joke.
