USC Notes: Staff Changes Would Later?

USC probably won’t make any defensive staff changes until after the Holiday Bowl, sources say.

One thing to consider: D’Anton Lynn’s area of expertise is the secondary. So unless he is a walk-around coach who oversees the defense (like he was at UCLA), Lynn might want to help coach the defensive backs.

If he is watching bowl practices, I wonder what he thinks of Donte Williams so far? Hopefully, Lynn wants to bring in his own coach.

  • Steve Sarkisian was not named Big 12 Coach of the Year despite going 12-1 and making the College Football Playoff.

Why not? Maybe because Texas is moving to the SEC. But if you know Sarkisian, he’s probably given the coaches plenty of reasons not to vote for him.

  • Hank Pepper, a long-snapper at Michigan State, is transferring to USC.

    Scott Wolf (aka grabbbyy), I would like to point out your lack of professionalism and integrity as a sports journalist. My background is in the IT field and am familiar with WordPress architecture. After ghosting your blog several times something odd came to my attention. A person who often replies under the username “Cowardly Gabby” (too many characters to list the entire name) is replying with “embedded posts” lifted from Twitter accounts. Here’s the problem with that, only the administrator/ owner of this website would have access to “developer t00ls” that could permit these types of posts to come through without being flagged for moderation.

    The person in question is replying with “embedded posts” one after another, often only one to two minutes apart. If I try to post a reply with an “embedded post”, from Twitter, in the comment box it would trigger the “waiting for moderation” dialog. It’s obvious this person’s replies are not being flagged for moderation.

    You have just been exposed for engaging in some really despicable behavior. I will be sure to let the other sites I frequent know the type of behavior taking place here

  3. As much as I am glad to see that Sark has redeemed himself, he isn’t deserving of Big 12 Conference coach of the year honors. Gundy or Chris Kleiman might be. But I think it is pretty clear that the winner should have been KU’s Lance Leipold, who I would take in a second over any coach USC has had since Pete left.

Texas defensive line is impressive, but you are right – behind that, suspect at best (I referred to KSU coach in post, and previously have seen and participated in discussion on possible KSU QB portal availability – KSU outplayed Texas badly in the second half and only lost because of special teams failures at end). Washington may very well (don’t think it’s a slam dunk – Texas won at Bama by 10, and played OU even, so they’re not rubes) beat them and perhaps badly (though Dawgs were scuffling at end of year), especially if they take away the run and get after Ewers.

      2. I have Alabama vs Washington in the title game, in the end I think Bama takes it, they’re just too big, too fast and too strong across the board on both sides of the ball.

        The Tide will eventually wear down Washington.

    Need legal advice. My brother in law and I drove up to San Francisco to pick up my nephew and return the same day. On the way back we went through Oakland. I had wanted to sign my nephew up with the Black Panthers. However, my nephew is white. He was not accepted. Can I sue the Black Panthers for discrimination? I say no because they do not take any State or Federal money. However, my nephew thinks he can because they violated his color. I know that you had lived in Oakland so that is why I am asking you.       My personal preference [not that you’d ever know it from reading our back & forth here —we’ve even sickened our wisest brother, Lawyer John] is to avoid contentiousness. A lawsuit filed by a white against the Black Panthers for refusing him membership will only serve to increase tension in war-torn Oakland.
      I respect the fact that’s probably not the answer you wanted —but it’s my personal preference for a city I still love.
