USC Aspires To Be Oregon State

What an indictment of USC that in 2 days it offered an Oregon State safety and cornerback (Akili Arnold, Jermod McCoy).

Let me guess: These players are fundamentally sound, can tackle, remember assignments and . . . were coached. In other words, they are ready to go on Day 1, the only way secondary players seem to thrive in the Riley administration.

Maybe D’Anton Lynn will bring in his own secondary coach but until he does, USC’s got one hand behind its back with the secondary.

So instead it has to turn to a program that actually develops players: Oregon State.

My background is in the IT field and am familiar with WordPress architecture. After ghosting your blog several times something odd came to my attention. A person who often replies under the username “Cowardly Gabby” (too many characters to list the entire name) is replying with “embedded posts” lifted from Twitter accounts. Here’s the problem with that, only the administrator/ owner of this website would have access to “developer t00ls” that could permit these types of posts to come through without being flagged for moderation.

        The person in question is replying with “embedded posts” one after another, often only one to two minutes apart. If I try to post a reply with an “embedded post”, from Twitter, in the comment box it would trigger the “waiting for moderation” dialog. It’s obvious this person’s replies are not being flagged for moderation.

    Riley must recruit. Will he? In order for this program to survive, Riley has to haul in 67% high schoolers and 23% portals. That means he has to go after linemen instead of jut qb’s. Riley has to get rid of Donte Williams. His coaching style cannot be around SC next year. Players need to know what they are doing and where they are going. Too much confusion in the db backfield.

        I disagree with Michael. I think whale feces is called for in this particular case. As a former offensive lineman, do you think we should replace Henson? I don’t know because he had a good track record before USC and has been working with a talented freshman o line class for the last year. Hate to start over with somebody new unless it is absolutely necessary. Do you think Riley might poach the guy from Oklahoma, Bill Bedenbaugh? He has a history with him and Oklahoma is once again changing offensive coordinators. If Bedenbaugh doesn’t get the OC job he might be pissed enough to leave Oklahoma for USC.

        As far as Henson –He misses on a lot of recruits…and…. worse than that, I’ve been watching how much time other Pac 12 QB’s had to throw the ball & our O-Line was a joke in comparison. Poor Caleb would have repeated as the Heisman winner if he didn’t have to do it all. Time for somebody new as O-Liner coach or we’re gonna get embarrassed big time in 2024.

        U think SC is running the wrong offense. This reflects upon the oline coach due to SC giving up in the run game and having to pass block. D rushing confused the oline on who to block. This is my opinion, if SC committed to the run and then pass then he might be a good coach. However, with SC mostly passing u don’t know if it is the coach, player, or scheme. If Riley wants to throw, then Henson better go back to school and learn how to pass protect and learn how to pick up blitzes. Too many stints created havoc. I think Henson needs to tell Riley to run. Get a te and a fullback in to help. I would give him one more year to see how he dies in the Big Ten. If he improves then keep him, if not, get the line coach from Michigan

  10. Scott Wolf good take. USC gets 4-5 star recruits, Oregon State gets mostly 3-star. But Oregon State’s over-perform. Not just DB’s either. USC better with Riley than Helton, but player development still lacking on defense and the offensive line.
