Star Receiver Flips To Oregon

Four-star wide receiver Ryan Pellum had been committed to USC since June and was considered one of the prizes of the current recruiting class.

But the Long Beach Millikan student stunned some at his signing ceremony today when he flipped to Oregon. Even his brother, Millikan coach Romeo Pellum, said he just found this afternoon that Pellum.

It’s one thing to lose a lineman or a cornerback to Oregon, but a wide receiver from Long Beach?

Isn’t recruiting wonderful? Pellum was the highest-rated commit to USC per Rivals rankings.

      1. She’s scared. Couldn’t beat Trump fairly in 2020 and with Dementia Joe being such a colossal failure, she and her team know it’s going to be even tougher this time around. Many who were dumb enough to vote for all of this have learned from their horrible mistake.

They’ve already got the blood of more than 1M on their hands. They don’t want anymore.

says the freak who doesn’t vote. Trump got slapped around at the ballot box so he reverted to plan #2, fake electors. You tell me who was doing the cheating. Think before you speak, dipshit….you must be the dumbest man on the internet outside of PT.

    1. Recruiting experts are ripping Lincoln Riley’s class today, which doesn’t surprise anyone. He’s losing on and off the field. The athletic administration should probably prepare for a buyout after next season

      1. Personally I have a theory. It comes from what I hear him say and his actions away from football and some that involve football. It is a sign of you “the game of elite coaching is played” and what we may start seeing more of all the time in the future. He may have been a very driven coach as an AC and perhaps in his first few years as a head at OU. When his children came along I link he lost the stomach for it. You can see it in the way he talks about the little things. Parking, commuting, shorter hours, lack of commitment to substantive changes. I believe he hit the mother load with this contract and realizes this buyout is his cover fire to generational money. He is not going to the NFL because these extended contracts and buyout and salaries are not their because the assume everyone wants to be in the NFL. I believe he is content in riding this till contract end or getting bought out, going back to texas and taking time off with a big wallet and small cost of living, and watch his girls grow up. At that point he can re enter in high school coaching or G5 OC jobs and if he re catches the bug the he can go through the process again. 115m plus the equity and price he has built in that mansion will carry him and the family comfortably. it is guaranteed money if he doesn’t leave on his terms pre contract expiration.

I was gonna say “only Oregon is ahead of us in recruiting in the Pac 12″….but…. I immediately remembered we ain’t in the Pac 12 —we’re in the Big Ten —and ALL our major Big Ten competitors are ahead of us according to all the ranking services….. and so are LSU and Notre Dame….

Sadly, MG and other regular bloggers hardly post anymore. Can’t blame them. It is now “Inside Gabby’s Mental Illness.” A blog dominated by Gabby and therefore incredibly boring. How many times can you copy and paste? It’s your blog Scott. Ban the lying, mentally ill, pervert. Every one knows who I am talking about.

      3. Like I have said…..bringing Grench back was a humongus mistake. He’s lost much of the teams confidence in him. But that has happened to others before and they were able to regain control and repair their reputation. Think of Brian Kelley from ND. One year he went 4-8. He certainly rebuilt his reputation. Also, Lane Kiffin.

  1. I’m not sure Oregon even wants him. They just don’t want to see SC get him. It’s time to start playing the NIL game or just get out of football. Are you listening Carol Folt?

    1. Oregon already had 4 receivers in this recruiting class before signing Pellam. Plus they have 15 wide receivers coming back next year from this year. They don’t really need 20 wide receivers. They just don’t want us to have him.

    1. Why would you say that? There has been a lot of 5’11” receivers who were great. Jordan Addison today is 5’11” but he weighs 175 lbs. How much did he weigh when he came out of high school 5-6 years ago before his college teams put him into the weight room.

  2. Stop it. It doesn’t matter what happens when they sign. Remember Rodrick Pleasant? Anyone remembers that fiasco? Exactly. Oregon can’t coach and Washington proved that with two wins over them. You have to develop and the fact that so many highly rated prospects are leaving USC shows how bad the culture is at USC.

Nice pick-up Troy 22. This guy is a real psycho. Imagine spending the time and energy to make up a phony avatar and then fraudulently engaging with people all day in an attempt to restore his lost reputation. He is absolutely obsessed with this blog. Just ignore him. He clearly suffers from an extreme narcistic personality disorder among other mental illnesses.

  4. Good night players are coming and going everywhere why not at USC? A sure fire recruit changed his mind.. so what? Look a year from now with a near similar culture of chaos and the reality of playing in the Big 10 is a legitimate time to panic…..Riley bluntly and graphically has been shown the precipice his foolish arrogance has left him at esp keeping that truly incompetent friend Grinch as his DC. He’s also seeing the end game that Staley justifiably received from the LAC. That’s the looming reality for any failing coach in the NFL.

The last thing Riley wants is to be tarred indelibly with one of the richest contracts for a head coach and 4 yrs in, sacked for being a bad hire. He’ll carry that ALL his career and he’s just 40 yrs old.

It’s all on him and if he hasn’t read the Morales / Feldman article in ‘The Athletic’ rest assured Jen Cohen has.

    Expect a solid turnaround!

      1. Anytime you have a situation whereby a player has been committed for a long time and then he takes one last visit to another school right before signing day and then de-commits and goes to the other school it’s almost always because they offered him a big bag of cash. That’s always been true even before it was legal. That’s most certainly what happened with DeAnthony Thomas.
Oregon, after this new recruiting class(including the ones coming back), now has 20 receivers. Why would they need 20 receivers? They don’t. They just don’t want SC to have a great receiver like Pellam.

  6. Pellum is a good player but not a great loss to this team. We currently have at least five players ahead of him at wide receiver and if Riley is not happy with these guys he can easily pick-up another quality receiver or two from the portal. But this does piss me off. NIL was sold as something that would allow players to participate in the sales of their jersey numbers, or photos with autographs, or video games with their name and likeness, or allow them to do commercials or an endorsement deal. Now A&M offers a Southern California kid who wanted to attend USC $400,000 to sign with them and then Oregon tops that offer and the kid signs with Oregon. That is not NIL and it violates NCAA rules but the NCAA is not enforcing the violation of their rules.

    1. If you really want to see the NCAA spring into action you have to convince USC to top Oregon’s next offer to any player…..

  7. Just face reality we don’t have 5 star NIL money so we will continue to be in all 5 star Top 10 only lose out because we don’t have dodgers owners money. Fight On rah rah . They should make the RB 6-4 240 a LB but he will be the bell cow back for the Big. LR you are on the clock n your temperament is not ready for big boy football. I got a suggestion to make a call to Coach MCvay of the rams look how he schemes routes to make people open just saying

  8. Absolutely correct – receivers weren’t taught how to run routes. It was a consistent shortcoming of the receiving corps this year. That’s another coach who needs to be looked at (along with O-line and special teams).

Every play, every receiver either needs to be blocking full-bore or getting separation, and leave their defender(s) guessing which on every down.

But more to your point on LR’s temperment for football: it comes down to discipline. Having it, instilling it, living it, expecting it. Right now, I don’t see any measurable difference between LR and Clay Helton in this regard, which is sad…

    Liked by 3 people

    1. The main difference between Riley and Helton is that when Riley goes looking for quality coaches, he is able to hire them (at least for now). Helton couldnt get anyone good to work for him.

I am hoping that these coaches can actually make the players better this year.

      1. Now if we can only get Riley to listen when his “quality coaches” tell him to grow up and get tough with prima donna players….

    2. Great comment I’ve been saying this also. Riley needs to tweak the offense to benefit his players. The old saying trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

  9. Just like when Pete Carroll had 7(!) running backs in one season, Riley had too many wide receivers and a quarterback who tried to be Superman on every play instead of a point guard. Fewer head cases should do wonders for next season when USC will only face two teams with returning qb starters. The schedule isn’t as scary as it seems, people.

      4. Even Mark Kulkin(well known SC football writer) was saying that SC still doesn’t have their NIL act together. SC is a rich school. The money is there. Somebody(maybe inside the administration since this is a left coast school) must be fighting this. The big power football schools have had their NIL system in place for a long time now.
SC should hire a liaison to OU to go to them and beg for permission to recruit an athlete…..because if Oregon doesn’t want us to have a player, they’ll just send a armored truck over to that players house with a truckload of cash and SC will not see that player again until SC plays Oregon. Like I’ve said before….SC is always a day late and a dollar short.
