Sunday Buzz: USC QB Hunt Continues

UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava is visiting USC this weekend.

It’s a great move for USC, which needs another QB. I’m not sure how great a move it is for Maiava. He passed for 3,085 yards with 17 TDs and 10 interceptions last season.

Does he want to risk sitting on the bench all next season at USC?

Does he think he can beat out Miller Moss? It’s a heckuva risk for take. Now, Maiava might be getting a good NIL offer with USC desperate for another QB but is it worth sitting on the bench?

Malachi Nelson committed to Boise State yesterday. That’s a great move if he starts. It’s about starting not sitting for transfer QBs.

  • Actor David Soul, from Starsky and Hutch fame, passed away Friday.

  • Actress Cindy Morgan, who became famous for her role in Caddyshack, passed away Saturday. She was 69.

  1. I posted this yesterday, tell me Wolf doesn’t read his blog.

Sad thing about Morgan is her roommate came home from a vacation, knocked on the door, got no answer and called the cops because of a foul odor coming from the home.

Soul battled COPD and cancer, guy smoked for years, not smart, he looked like shit even in his 60’s.

    1. Morgan died in obscurity like Cathy Downs, another Hollywood beauty, the co-star of the 1946 John Ford classic take on the Gunfight At The OK Corral, “My Darling Clementine”.

      1. Not really. She had a voice over part in 2022, was never a big star but she worked pretty steadily.

Now, Sarah Holcomb who was in Caddyshack and Animal House has faded into obscurity, she isn’t dead but she hasn’t acted in years

      2. I’m not sure she minds, Grabbyy. [I always thought if I were Hector I’d stop paying attention after the word “killed” when Achilles tells him, “After I’ve killed you I’m going to hack the meat from your bones and tie your corpse to my chariot and drag it around the walls of Troy”….]

    2. It would be great if they could get him. I don’t see why he would want to come to SC after having such a successful year at UNLV. If he really wants to leave, there are plenty of upgrades where he could play on a regular basis. Why would he want to come to SC and sit on the bench?

    1. Why would a true freshman who accounted for over 3300 yards want to transfer to Georgia and sit on the bench. You don’t even get a good education at Georgia. Educationally, that school doesn’t even compare with some high schools in this country. There are plenty of schools he could have gone to that are a step up from UNLV where he would have been the starter

      1. Sitting on the bench for a season might be the price you pay to be the future starting QB at Georiga. Tua and Brice both had to sit on the bench and wait it out at Bama.

Going from the MWC to the SEC is a big jump in the required skill set. Another year of development would benefit him. He was decent for the MWC and jumping to the SEC is a big stretch for this kid. He wasn’t even the first-team QB when the season started. He took over when Brumfield went down with an injury.

      2. I just don’t think you get better sitting on the bench. I wouldn’t have gone to either SC or Georgia.
