USC Notes: Washington Lands Fisch

A week ago, Jedd the Fisch said “I have no interest in going anywhere.”

The funny thing is a lot of people in Tucson believed him.

Now he is the Washington coach, making $7.75 million a year. It’s an amazing profession.

Here’s the bottom line: Washington and Alabama do not have as good coaches as they did a week ago.

Here’s Fisch, who should never have been believed.

  • JuJu Watkins had 32 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 9-ranked USC to a 73-65 victory over No. 2-ranked UCLA at the Galen Center. The official attendance was 10,258, which is the arena’s capacity. Watkins was 16 for 16 on free throws.

USC snapped a nine-game losing streak to UCLA and handed the Bruins their first loss of the season.

      1. Everything Fisch said about staying in Arizona [18 of 22 starters returning!] made sense —-hope he knows what he’s done to himself…

      1. And that’s the problem at SC. The Oregons of the world are offering the recruits money trees while SC is offering them stories about USC’s football tradition.

  1. I don’t know what I’ll do if it turns out Lincoln Riley wasn’t telling the truth when he said “I plan on being at USC for a long time!”….

      1. Only the second playoff win in 65 years. I can only imagine what that run since 1954 must feel like. Perhaps Mr. Owns can chime in.

  3. My limited understanding of the deal is that “Also-Ran” Celeb
still has until Jan 19, Friday to elect a ‘secondary-type” draft (?)
in which Chicago (Celeb hates ‘Bears’) would not have 1st choice

  5. I was only listening on the radio but it captured what a great first half of Rams-Lions football that was with a ravenous Detroit-City mob “sound-track”

    1. The Rams controlled the game and gained 100 more yards than the Lions —it took some really bone-headed play calls for Rams to lose….
