USC Completes Defensive Staff

USC has hired Eric Henderson as co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach/run game coordinator to complete the defensive coaching staff.

Henderson has been the DL coach/run game coordinator for the Rams.

Defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn will call the defense, but he threw Henderson a bone by making him co-defensive coordinator.

What is unsaid is who will coach the safeties? That has been Lynn’s specialty but at UCLA he just concentrated on being the coordinator.

Here’s the defensive staff:

Lynn (defensive coordinator)

Henderson (defensive line/run game coordinator)

Matt Entz (assistant head coach for defense/LBs)

Doug Belk (secondary)

Shaun Nua (defensive ends).

  • Former USC wide receiver Dorian Singer has committed to Utah. Former USC wide receiver Mario Williams has committed to Tulane.

Sorry, it didn’t work out for you at USC, Dorian. I wish you good luck and health going forward

  2. Defensive staff looks really good, Nua back coaching the position he did at Michigan, lots of experience and toughness, now if Riley can just embrace running the ball more than throwing, SC might finally be headed in the right direction for the first time in years

    1. Yes budda I agree with you. He needs to start rotating his running backs and run screen plays out of the backfield as well. I miss the days of student right.

      1. Read that maybe he stays on as an analyst. Played in the NFL for awhile so probably has some money in the bank.

  3. Excellent news getting Henderson. This does not happen – ever.
A current NFL Asst DC doesn’t normally step down from the pros….esp Coach Sean McVay’s staff to join a college program ‘unless’ the opportunity is too alluring to turn down.

Something good is finally happening at University Park

    1. Now let’s go get an NFL line coach so we can run the ball with our big OL just need to be taught the basic fundamentals of run n pass blocking. Give LR credit at least he is trying to get his coaching staff together. Now hire Taylor Mays to coach the safeties he did a great job coaching the DB for the holiday bowl. Change your running scheme to a more power run scheme
Not a fan of zone running scheme

“Hi Tulane, I am Mario, remember how I gave you the Cotton Bowl game. I am now in need of a little favor from you guys”

      1. Yeah, those Mediterranean countries think they’re smarter than Americans just because they’ve been around 3000 more years than we have

at least in part because everybody thinks they’re right and hence won’t compromise

      1. Very sad…but true. Thousands are homeless….. and there will NEVER be an investigation into why this fire wasn’t controlled BEFORE the winds picked up.

    1. It seems eventually there will be some type of federal legislation that will establish at least a few NIL ground-rules so there might be a tad of uniformity to guide high school footballers. As it stands various states have different rules

    1. Time doesn’t always mean progress. This country has more time in it’s history than it did back in the 1950’s. But do you really think we have progressed since then.

      1. Well, tv reception has improved since the 1950s but other than that i can’t think of any other progress

      2. Good point, Parcelman. Some argue there hasn’t been “progress” since William of Orange…..

      3. There’s been some progress especially when it comes to the blacks. Back in the early 50’s they had to use separate drinking fountains and separate bathrooms. But even with the blacks, the old plantations have been replaced with the new plantation(the government)

  5. I see that SC’s quarterback recruit (I hesitate to use the word “commit”)
is forsaking his senior year so he can get his hands on some of that NIL money as soon as possible (which I too would do)
