LSU has opened as a 6-point favorite over USC in Las Vegas according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
The crazy part of this line is how much we still might not know about either teams’ roster. LSU is also a 1.5-point favorite over Alabama in Baton Rouge on Nov. 9.
Oregon is a 1.5-point favorite over Ohio State on Oct. 5 in Eugene.
- A USC source tells me Eric Henderson doubled his salary by going from the Rams to USC. The NFL might be the highest level of football but you can make more as an assistant in college football if you are at the right school.
- I said yesterday a coaching announcement would be made that would potentially benefit USC. Oregon cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin has been hired by Michigan State. Martin beat USC for some top cornerbacks in Southern California, including Serra’s Rodrick Pleasant and Dakoda Fields the past two years.

Tampa Bay’s coach says the 20-seconds exposure to the Detroit cold when his team gets off the bus will not impact his players
Score one for Scottie as he pats himself on the back
Now we know the real reason the Ram coach went to SC–
“Just give me money, that’s what I want”
Good, SC is an underdog so maybe our boys will be motivated in August to learn how to play the game

General consensus on 2024 USC football: skill positions are fine, lines need reinforcements

SC’s lines need “reinforcement,” so now you tell me

Scooter,
In the old days, coaches used to come to SC because they had wanted to be part of the heritage of the program. Am I wrong in saying that Henderson just came for a paycheck only?

Certainly that was a motivation, but all football coaches want to do well

To make a play on Oscar’s line in Armageddon:
“I got that “excited/scared” feeling [about coming to USC]. Like 98% excited [about USC], 2% [about the money]. Or maybe it’s more – It could be two – it could be 98% [about the money], 2% [about being at USC] but that’s what makes it so intense, it’s so – confused. I can’t really figure it out.”

” Martin beat USC for some top cornerbacks in Southern California, including Serra’s Rodrick Pleasant and Dakoda Fields the past two years. ”
No dumbass, NIL was the key here, not Martin, Oregon coaches have Phil Knight’s, aka Nike, money to play with and the U of Oregon administration’s blessing to use it.
We’ll see how great a recruiter Martin is at East Lansing without Nike money to throw around.

Martin is a good recruiter. But today it’s more about the money than it is about building relationships

Imagine a Dodgers coach leaving that position to coach at Rancho Cucamonga because they paid him more.

What do you want to bet that Wiley will be up for “Comeback Coach of the Year” if they have such an award?

He has to have the comeback first, then you worry about the awards.

Whatever else you wanna say about him, Riley will put a super efficient offense on the field…. and there will be a 100% improvement in the defense [meaning NO one is gonna get an easy go ahead score on us in the final minute].
So, yeah, USC is looking very good. [Still, it’d be nice if Harbaugh got out of Michigan]…..

Harbaugh is going to be Riley’s neighbor very soon, maybe he’ll hire him to be his OC, we can only hope.

You’re right, get past LSU first, and then Wash, Mich, Penn St, sucla, and Wisconsin to name a few

Scott Wolf, 6 points is not considered a “decided” underdog. That line is going to drop like your credibility.
LSU is going to lose their first game, just like they lost to Florida St for two years running. Why? Because they’re not ready to be cohesive with THAT coach in the first game. They also lack leadership on the field and run a generic offense. Finally, if USC picks up a couple of linemen that they are in the running (or should I say auctioning) then, even Riley can’t mess this win opportunity up. I think.
