USC Saturday Buzz: About That Tough Schedule

USC has one of the toughest schedules in the nation next season.

But based on who is coming back and transfer portal additions so far, the schedule could have been a lot, lot worse.

That is because the Trojans do not play Ohio State and Oregon. The Buckeyes look like Big Ten favorites and the Ducks are close behind, so Lincoln Riley is catching a big break not playing either team.

Meanwhile, Washington’s lost almost 30 players from its two-deep for the national championship game vs. Michigan and has Jedd the Fisch as coach. Michigan could lose Jim Harbaugh to the NFL.

At this rate, USC might be expected to win more games, which is probably the expectation Riley does not want.

    1. Don’t be such a queen Kenny Boy, just admit Wolf kicked you out of his bed and now you’re nothing more than a spurned lover. Don’t be bitter, I’m sure you can find another hole to pack

      1. Why did Kenny wrap up his post with a free floating “u” ?
Is that the Pillsbury Doughboy way of saying “Fuck You”?

    2. If you don’t like what Scott has to say, then why do you keep logging on like a crybaby little bitch, Ken Hart? You’ve been complaining since the Clay Helton days. Your USC Football standards are so low, that you’re still scratching your head wondering why Helton was fired

    1. I guess you enjoyed Washington Irving’s tale of Rip Van Winkle….
[Fun note — I read the consensus answer to the question, “who, in American literature, slept for 20 years?” was “Benjamin Franklin” in an NYU English exam]..

  1. Wolf is already setting the bait for next season by mentioning the fact USC avoids Oregon and Ohio St.

If the team underachieves he’ll say it could have been worse since USC didn’t play the two mentioned teams. If they overachieve he’ll try to diminish the success and claim it had to do with not playing two heavyweights.

      1. SC basketball has always been painful, even in 1971-72 or so when the team went 24-2 but the 2 losses were to sucla and only sucla went to the Tournament

      2. Yep. That was painful, John…….but this year is painful with a capital “P”….

      3. I think SC will be very good this coming year. Everything points to it. Too much is made of this past year. It wasn’t what anyone wanted but 8-5(with the worst defense SC has ever had) is a lot better than 5-7 and 4-8 like we have had in recent years.
We all want to get back to the glory days but what we are forgetting is that even in the glory days they had their off years. McKay was 11-0 in 1962. But the next 4 years he was 7-3, 7-3, 7-2-1 and 7-4. Then he had 3 great years in ’67’-’69’. Then the next 2 years he went 6-4-1 both years. Then he had 3 really good years and then finished off at 8-4 in ’75’.
John Robinson was 11-1 in ’76’ but 8-4 in ’77’. Then he had 2 great years and then he was 8-2-1, 9-3 and 8-3 in his final 3 years. 8-5 is understandable considering he had the worst defense of any team that has ever put a USC uniform on.

  2. When does the relieve Enfield of his duties comments begin.

He has done good job but in all likelihood has reached his ceiling.

Not sure who would take SC to next level?

Best fake news story yesterday was Seahawks hiring CLR. Now, that would make for great drama but what has he done to prove he is capable?

  3. This is what I have been saying. There isnt a single team on the schedule next year that cant be defeated. Having said that, it is still a tougher schedule than this year and it is unlikely there is any chance of an undefeated year.

10-2 would be a good outcome. 9-3 is my expected, 8-4 or 7-3 would be disappointing. Below that and there is something very wrong.

    1. We won’t fall into the “something very wrong” category —you can take that to the bank.
