Thanks, Enfield!

Did Lincoln Riley deliver the pre-game speech he gave before the USC-UCLA football game?

USC laid an egg against UCLA tonight before an announced crowd of 10,300 (Galen Center capacity is 10,258).

A huge USC student section showed up for nothing as UCLA outrebounded the Trojans, 43-29.

UCLA outscored USC, 22-4, to end the first half.

USC is in sole possession of last place in the Pac-12. Thanks, Enfield!

      1. Grabby –I don’t know the answer to that question —all I can tell you is things have turned upside down for Enfield —there was no mistaking the looks on those faces on the bench: they want out..

  1. Last place Trojans. I do not like the sound of that at all. What is Enfield doing again if the team cannot get rebounds (especially defensive rebounds), plays poor defense in general, and can’t score (from the field or charity stripe)? What a sad waste of unmotivated talent. Worse than Grinch in football? That might be the case…

  2. It’s time to part company with Andy Enfield. His teams don’t play defense, or team basketball on offense. A change is necessary its very clear he has lost the respect of his players.

  3. It is time for Enfield to get out of town. Never saw a team disintegrate like
that after beíng up by 7 early on playing at home. He had a week to prepare
for a mediocre ‘Ruins club. Enough years to make the program viable. I
recommend Brian Scalabrine as the new head Coach starting immediately.

      1. Good question, Grabby. Was it on the basis of homecourt advantage alone? It sure wasn’t based on scores against common opponents or health status of first 5…..

  4. Wolf always writes about how SC football is going to get the shit kicked out of them when they go to the Big 10. Can you imagine how bad basketball is going to be in the Big 10 ? Jen better get a top coach ASAP or this year is going to look good compared to what is going to happen in a conference where they take basketball very seriously.

OTOH, baseball should flourish in the Big 10.

  5. There is evidence of an MG sighting when there is a sudden avalanche of “likes,” but SC has never had a true home court advantage and in basketball when your shot is not falling you look as if you’re not trying

    1. I honestly love that point, John — cuz it opens up the conversation started by Norman Mailer in “Armies of the Night” — to wit, when you lose is it because things beyond your control went wrong [chaos theory] …or… do you only win when you deserve to win [Mailer’s “Logic of the Spirit”]….

    2. Wait, you never went to the USC men’s basketball games in 1971 when USC went 24-2 and lost a heartbreaker 64-60 to #1 UCLA at the Sports Arena for their only home loss of the season? That sure seemed like a true home court advantage.

      1. I was there that night and it was a great atmosphere until the final 8-minutes or so, and there have been a few other times SC had a home court advantage with Harold Miner in the 1990s and Clancy& his gang in the early 2000s, but other than that, SC crowds act as if they are at the opera

  6. It has been 3 years since the 2021 NCAA Tournament where USC got to the Elite 8 then they faced off against Gonzaga.
A team is a direct reflection of their coach and Enfield showed his fear of having a spotlight on him. Rather than manage the kids anxiety prior to the game against Gonzaga he seemingly, conveyed his fear of losing. The USC players never had a chance because their coach didn’t give them one.

Enfield is gone but to say it was a bad hire is wrong – he looked good back in 2013 coming off his quick run at Gulf Coast – say what many do about Haden it was not a bad hire anymore than sacking that clown Chad Krueter was.

It is obvious no one is going to want to come and play for USC with this talent this year and this as a head coach – no one.

    Enfield is history.

    1. It was a bad hire. Haden, as was his lazy way, hired a guy who had ONE , I repeat, ONE, good season. It was just another in a long line of lazy shitty hires by that fucking drunk. Enfield, Krueger, Sark, Helton, could he have done worse ?

      1. Even Owns couldn’t have done as much damage as Pat “Win the Right Way” Haden did to USC as Athletic Director. He deserves the blame for Corrupt Varsity Blues scammer Donna Heinel , who “eventually worked her way up to the senior associate level under former athletic director Pat Haden.”

      2. I just listened to A. D. “Jen” for 30 minutes and …it doesn’t make me happy to say this — she’s not the aggressive person USC needs in the age of NIL…
