USC Notes: Does Anyone Care About Kickers Anymore?

USC’s recruiting class featured eight recruits from California. I’ve heard Deion Sanders doesn’t like recruits from California because he believes they are soft.

That’s nonsense. But it doesn’t surprise me because Sanders is from Florida, so he thinks the world revolves around Florida. He has the nation’s No. 80-ranked recruiting class so maybe he needs more California players.

  • It’s really something that Washington State is in second place in the Pac-12 basketball standings and USC is tied for last. Remember, the Cougars lost one of their top players, D.J. Rodman, who transferred to USC.
  • Are kickers just ignored in recruiting? Ryan Sayeri, who committed to USC yesterday, is supposed to be one of the top kickers in the nation, but he doesn’t have any star ranking from 247 Sports or even a profile from Rivals. His only other offers besides USC were Air Force and San Diego State.
  • Ohio State fired men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann after seven seasons. Per his contract, he is due a buyout of about $15.5 million. The top Big Ten schools don’t worry about buyouts.
