Notes: USC Becomes Homecoming Opponent

Maryland will have its homecoming on Oct. 19 when it plays USC.

That will be a good road trip. For the record, USC practiced at the University of Maryland in 2004 when it played Virginia Tech in Landover, Md.

  • Bryan Ellis, who was the QB coach at USC under Clay Helton, was hired as tight ends coach at Alabama. He had been offensive coordinator for Helton at Georgia Southern the past two seasons.
  • Former USC secondary coach Ronnie Bradford has been hired by the Miami Dolphins as their Senior Special Teams Assistant. He was the defensive coordinator at Montana. The number of USC secondary coaches bouncing around is something else. One of them, Greg Burns, is still at UCLA.
  • Today is Presidents’ Day, so here are some pictures of presidents visiting USC.
John F. Kennedy campaigning at USC in 1960.
Richard Nixon at USC in 1960.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt at USC in 1932.
Gerald Ford at USC in 1976 with John Naber (left) and Ricky Bell.

  1. One doesn’t have to do anythng to be a martyr, just simply be killed

And an Alabama worthy coach comes out of the Ton-o-Hel camp, so who knows where the diamonds lie?

    1. You don’t have to be killed. You could have a $400M judgment against you for something that wasn’t really a crime to be considered a martyr.

The bank wasn’t forced to issue the loan. They have their own valuation experts and could have easily refused to accept the figures presented.

      1. The NY Post expressed it well:

Was there ever a more predictable outcome than that of Donald Trump’s civil trial? Attorney General Letitia James came into office vowing to punish him and ignore all other crimes. Judge Arthur Engoron found him guilty before anyone even set foot in a courtroom.

It was all over but the punishment: a $355 million fine and a three-year ban from running a business in New York.Guess they were out of tar and feathers.

This was a politically motivated trial from the start, one that had the progressive James “protecting” big banks she would otherwise demean.

Congratulations, you’ve won a trial without victims and proved that Donald Trump likes to exaggerate. See if that gets you elected governor.

Democrats have again shot themselves in the foot, proving to an increasing number of voters that the justice system is stacked against the ex-president. This trial and the upcoming “hush-money” nothingness trivializes the more serious Jan. 6 case.

And how many will dismiss the classified documents trial because elderly Joe skated? Democratic elites will chuckle into their martinis this weekend at the verdict, but your victory is pyrrhic.

You’ve made Donald Trump a political martyr.

      2. Hero? You obviously haven’t been following along.

He’s not even my preferred nominee. But in a Trump versus Dementia matchup? For the sake of the entire world, Trump. There’s been enough bloodshed as a result of Joe’s incompetence & weakness.

      4. You are so right, SoCal, did you see that our Navy ships get so little respect under Senile Joe’s Dictatorship that they are attacking them today and they killed 3 of our servicemen and servicewomen and wounded 25 in Jordan? There’s your bloodshed!

      1. The Media was on JFK’s side and kept all his philandering hidden. SF Columnist Herb Caen bragged about how they all knew and kept America in the dark. Nobody knew until Judith Exner, his shared lover with Chicago Mobster Sam Giancana spilled the beans at the Church Senate Committee hearing in 1975. The American Myth of Camelot died in the years after that as other lovers came forward and information on the JFK/RFK romantic relationship with Marilyn Monroe and the JFK/RFK /CIA Mafia plot to assassinate Cuban leader Fidel Castro was revealed to the world.

  2. USC homecoming opponent? I guess it had to happen. Way back when I cared about this blog I posted the story about how my mother enrolled at USC. Short story Grandpa was stationed in CA during WWII so she enrolled in high school out here. When it came time to pick a college she only knew Big ten schools (she grew up in Minnesota) so she told her counselor she wanted a school with a great football team and only knew it had letters for a name. After her first semester at Ucla she transferred to the school with letters for a name and great football team. (USC) I think that’s what happened when Maryland picked a homecoming game. They knew the team had letters for a name but picked the wrong one for homecoming..
In political news Putin likes Biden because he’s predictable. Trump was voted worst president in an unbiased poll conducted by a Democrat owned newspaper and Nicky is better looking than Kamala.

      1. When a person points a finger at someone he has several fingers mistyping for him. You are right I no longer live on this blog.
Gabby, (if that is your name-there are more Gabby aliases than letters in the alphabet) you once told me and the assembled regulars that your name reflected a young relative named Gabriela. I wonder if she would allowed to read this schizophrenic blog? I don’t use my name anymore because I closed my account after several attacks on my person and having my posts removed by the nonexistent moderator. I don’t need approval from anyone here as I have lost respect herein long ago. I threw out my post to see how it was received . My guess was; nothing has changed, and I’m right.
