USC has the most players invited to the NFL Combine for an unranked team, according to Brett McMurphy. Thanks, Riley!
- Caleb Wilson, the former USC tight end and son of ex-USC assistant coach Chris Wilson, will join the Washington staff. Wilson transferred to UCLA and was an all-Pac-12 selection. Almost everyone on Jedd the Fisch’s staff is the son of a coach.
- Since we focus a lot on history, it’s worth pointing out that Sammy Lee (1952), Parry O’Brien (1959), John Naber (1977) and Janet Evans (1989) are past USC winners of the Sullivan Award.

No Trojan has ever won the award, and if we can get USC fans to vote, I think she is in a… pic.twitter.com/IyRlBbtxZM
I figured Riley would be good for 4-5 more wins per year than Helton when he was hired. By the end of last regular season, it seemed more like 1 win more than Helton, not 4-5. I saw some reasons to be optimistic in the bowl game with Miller, and his ability to find open receivers within a short period of time. But still, it is hard to escape the feeling that Riley has morphed into Helton Jr.

Ton-o-Hel’s teams were seldom in the game. Wiley’s 2023 team was in every game except Notre Dame, Oregon and sucla

The games vs. the domers and the gutties had helton written all over them, as in “soft”, “overwhelmed”, “o-line getting trampled”, “QB running for his life”. I liked what I saw versus Louisville, I hope that carries over to next season.

I thought Wolf wrote that SC indeed has had past winners, so what is Mckay talking about?

Great news about JuJu! As GT & I agreed, she makes women’s basketball watchable. (Caitlin Clark does, too, of course.)

Technically, Evans won in 1989 when she swam for Stanford. But she later received her Bachelor’s from USC (1994). But yeah, people don’t look this stuff up first? It’s pretty easy–you’re already on the internet!

Oakland,
I was going by memory that she swam for SC. I looked it up and it says that she just swam for Stanford. I still say that she swam for SC. If I am wrong, then I am wrong.

SC has more players headed to the NFL combine than any other unranked college team.
So the Trojans are No. 1 among the unranked

It’s bizarre how USC makes a big deal about Janet Evans and Allyson Felix when neither competed in college athletics for USC. Are they going to claim Rick Neuheisel next since he went to USC Law School?
Most Decorated USC Olympians (?)
Janet Evans
Janet Evans won three gold medals during her first Olympic appearance in Seoul in 1988, setting a world record in the 400-meter freestyle event that stood until 2006. She won a fourth gold medal, along with a silver, at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Although she failed to medal in Atlanta in 1996, she had the honor of passing the Olympic torch to Muhammad Ali during the opening ceremonies.
Allyson Felix
Nicknamed “Chicken Legs” for her lanky build, track speedster took home her first Olympic gold medal for running a leg on the 4×400-meter relay team in Beijing in 2008. She captured three more golds at the 2012 London Games, individually for the 200-meter race, and as part of the 400- and 1600-meter relay teams, as well as two more gold medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games as part of those same relay teams. She was the first Trojan woman to capture Olympic gold in the 200-meter dash and the first USC runner to win gold in this event since Don Quarrie won the men’s 200-meter in 1976.
