Morning Buzz: Should USC Be Offended To Be Rated Worse Than Penn State?

I thought it was a bad sign when USC was given a worse chance than Arizona by BetOnline yesterday.

But maybe it’s just as bad that Penn State is given a 33 percent chance while USC is at 17 percent. Why is that bad? Because James Franklin has a 12-26 record at Penn State against Top 25 teams. Then again, Lincoln Riley is 3-6 against Top 25 teams at USC.

This is one reason I have the Oct. 12 game vs. Penn State at the Coliseum circled on the schedule. These are two teams that are fully capable of blowing a game. And two teams that will probably need a win here.

  • Caleb Williams to ESPN: “If I get drafted by the Bears, I’ll be excited. If they trade the pick, and I get drafted by someone else, I’m just as excited.”

Williams arrives at the NFL combine today and is scheduled to meet with the Bears, Commanders, Patriots, Raiders, Falcons, Jets, Giants and Falcons.

  • USC defensive lineman Solomon Byrd was asked at the NFL combine about Caleb Williams.

“Every day was kind of crazy, like a circus show with some of the throws he makes,” Byrd said.

  • USC baseball lost to Michigan, 8-5, in a Big Ten preview game at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday night.
  • Adjunct professors at the USC Cinema School voted to unionize by a vote of 206-13.
