USC Morning Buzz: Someone Is Piling Up 5-Star Skill Players And It Isn’t Lincoln Riley

LSU has commitments from a five-star quarterback, tailback and wide receiver from the Class of 2025.

Frankly, that’s the type of recruiting class I anticipated USC might have when Lincoln Riley got hired in 2021.

USC does have one commitment from the Class of 2025 — five-star QB Julian Lewis — if he doesn’t flip to Georgia.

I don’t doubt Riley will have a full class of recruits eventually but he hasn’t shown an ability to put together an elite class yet. LSU’s class is currently ranked No. 3. That sounds elite.

Maybe the new defensive staff can improve recruiting. But Riley needs to up his game too. It should have been on his to-do list after the season along with fixing the defense and improving the offense, which became predictable last season. We’ll see.

Also: Does the revolving door of USC recruiting staffers (who reportedly feel overworked) hurt recruiting?

  • CBS Sports basketball pundit Jon Rothstein double-downed on his preseason prediction that the Pac-12 title will go through USC.

Rothstein now says to “keep an eye on USC” to win the Pac-12 Tournament. Whichever USC coach butters up Rothstein is getting their money’s worth.

I know they are going to call me an election denier. But between Desouza and Mike Lindels research that was put into films, you have to question the election. Also, Trump had rallies and thousands showed up everywhere he went. He goes to a sporting event and the people start to cheer like crazy when his name is announced.

        Biden can’t put a sentence together without pausing to try and remember what the next word is. The whole campaign in 2020 he spent in his time in his cellar hiding from the public. If he or his wife ever went to a sporting event, they were booed wildly by the fans when announced….many chanting “let’s go Brandon”.

        And people are telling me that he had more people vote for him in 2020 than any election in history. And I’m supposed to put all that(and more) together and come to the conclusion that it was a fair election? Me thinks that there is something rotten in Denmark(and in america).

  2. Maybe part of the problem with SC (apart from NIL considerations) is that since Carrot left after 2009, in the past 14 years the Trojans have had only 3 good seasons. And with the entire country “open for business” kids go to schools that have been successful recently

    The primary problem is doing hard labor for lack of pay which is why there is a push to unionize and obtain better benefits. Yes, they get their education paid for, but as one footballer put it is he gets little out of college because after a half day of practice he is too tired to stay awake in class
