USC Twisting A Few Arms

A lot of former high-profile USC players are being asked to donate money to the new football building that is scheduled to be built.

It makes sense to ask former Heisman Trophy winners and TV personalities for money.

But who is going make a monster donation? Wayne Hughes, who donated more than $400 million to USC in his lifetime, was the big donor to the McKay Center. Phil Knight also contributed, mainly because of his close relationship with John McKay.

But for the Lincoln Riley building who will be the signature donor? I’ll tell you one challenge: Riley’s personality isn’t expected to be a plus getting someone to make a huge donation. If USC gets a big donation, from like a Rick Caruso, it’ll be because they love the university more than Riley.

  1. it must really suck to use clickbait on your own third rate blog to make ends meets. The fan boys eat that shit up and throw shade for the wolfman, who’ has been banned from USC football

On the one hand, I’ve given you plenty of rebuttal potential by mentioning the words ‘squeeze’ and ‘spread’….

      1. As surprised as we are that “81M” (give or take 7M) were dumb enough to vote for THAT, nearly as many will not have learned anything over the last 4 years and will be just as stupid this year.

    1. I just wish some of those great USC football players would stand up and demand that Reggie get his Heisman back. So far the only ones that have come out and complained are Johnny Maisel and ,I think, Eddie George, both non-USC players. Where are all the other great USC players. How about Matt Leinart, Carson Palmer. What about Mike Garrett. If anyone should hate the NCAA it would be Mike Garrett. He got fired by Max Nakias because he complained about the NCAA’s horrendous attempted death penalty against USC.

Well some did…. and some didn’t, Grabby —but the ones who didn’t were lucky enough not to be playing at USC for Pete Carroll….

      2. I’ve always been disappointed with Reggie Bush because he let USC get destroyed by his and his family’s actions. He never once defended the football program and he certainly could have proven that they didn’t know anything about the benefits his family received. Instead, he trotted off to the NFL and signed a huge contract. USC football was thrown into a tailspin that we are still trying to recover from. It was all on him.

But they changed the rules. Why? Because they thought that the rules were obviously wrong. But if the rules were wrong, why is he still being punished for them. If a guy broke a law and he was sentenced to life in prison and 20 years later they changed the law because they felt that the law was punishing people for doing things that should be legal, would you still want him to spend the rest of his life in prison?

  2. Maybe we should ask the CCP to pay for the building. They gave the University of Pennsylvania 130 million between 2018 and 2023 for the Biden Center of Diplomacy building. Threw in an additional $800,000 for Joe’s “no show” job as a professor. I recall that a few classified documents were found in that building. USC is already educating over 5,000 students from China to the exclusion of American kids. Have Carol Folt make some calls.

  3. Speaking of Mike Garrett — When my brother worked at USC he had the following elevator conversation with Mike:

My brother: Mike, did you know ABC has a crew waiting for you downstairs?

Mike: Thanks. I guess I’ll head back to my office for a bit.

        The Narcissist’s Airtight Victim Narrative

        From Psychology Today March 2023:

        KEY POINTS

        1. Exaggerated victimhood is a common feature of narcissistic grandiosity.

        2. Narcissistic personalities often feel victimized because of their unrealistic expectations, hypersensitivity, and lack of empathy.

        3. Narcissists also play the victim to elicit sympathy and avoid responsibility for their abusive behavior.

See Gabby’s claim of victimhood below. Lack of empathy, abusive behavior, it all fits. And of course he has now taken over the blog so that he is the center of attention, the most obvious narcissist personality trait.

  5. Wayne Hughes was giving money to USC way before Pete Carroll showed up. Tricky Rick was one of the group that flew back to Oklahoma to recruit Riley.
