SMU Officially Hires Andy Enfield

With his USC buyout down to $2 million today, SMU finally announced it hired Andy Enfield.

He is leaving behind a USC roster that will have only three players, if Isaiah Collier and Bronny James do not return.

From what I’ve heard, USC has already started to contact possible candidates.

“I am so excited to join the SMU family,” Enfield said in a statement. “It is an incredible time for the university as we enter the ACC. The investments SMU has made in athletics, the support and alignment from leadership – President Turner, Rick Hart, David Miller and others – as well as the passion of the SMU fan base and community made this an incredibly attractive opportunity. We will make Mustang fans and the city of Dallas proud and cannot wait to get started.”

I’d love to know how happy Enfield’s wife is with the move. They built a house in Manhattan Beach after Enfield got hired at USC. The weather in Dallas will be considerably hotter and colder.

  1. From a Trojan to an animal, a Mustang, and he considers this a step up or maybe he just got tired of Wolf and others like him

  2. L.A. v Texas weather– First time I was in Texas was during one May when stopped at the border by guards and I asked “Is it always this hot here?”

  3. Will Andy again do the “I must be pretty great to be married to such a babe!” spiel at his presser?

[To be fair, except for a few bad breaks Andy’s team would have advanced as far as the women’s team this year— it was only the losses to every single team in the Pac 12 that kept him out of the tournament]….

      1. Ha! Good point! [btw, It was just that kind of remark that got Don Lemon kicked off the air — I guess we know how long the two of us would last, yes]?

      1. Never got that phrase but appaently “Punch” was a many-years-ago doll that took delight in his evil ways saying “That’s the way to do it”

      1. Au contraire, MG, the Rose Bowl will be filled with Big Ten fans! Remember how Wisconsin fans filled the Rose Bowl the last time UCLA played as Pac 10 champ? It was at least 90:10 Badger fans. Look at all that red!

      1. Excellent! Don’t want them feeling too confident going in, the way one certain LSU player does.

F her and the rest of the Tigers! GO HAWKEYES!!

  5. I always take the downtrodden’s side but a basketball team needs 3 stars in order to shine and Dandy Andy never had that many at any one time. However, his teams never seemed to be ‘coached-up.’

  6. Yeah his wife is definitely going to pull a Melania & hang out at the nicer locale. But a tip of the hat to Enfield, unlike Gomer Helton, he got out of dodge at the first sign of trouble.
