Notes: Rutgers Has Become Arizona On USC Football Schedule

I’ve heard USC senior associate athletic director Paul Perrier is working with Jen Cohen on the basketball coaching search.

I hope his duties include “due diligence.”

  • There was a report Bronny James entered the transfer portal yesterday but nothing has been set yet regarding James’ future.
  • USC will hold its parents’ weekend, dubbed “Trojan Family Weekend” on Oct. 24-27, which is when USC plays Rutgers at the Coliseum. Rutgers has become the Arizona of the USC football schedule, apparently.
  • JuJu Watkins has been named Freshman of the Year by the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association.

      1. I listened to Biden’s Press Secretary today. Wish she worked for USC.

        Here’s how things would look:

“There have been so many misperceptions & misunderstandings concerning last year’s football team. And I want to address them here. A closer look reveals we actually went undefeated…if you look at the Big Picture…”

      2. No kidding, MG! KJP isn’t as adept at lying as Jen Psucki was. Psucki seemed to gain energy from lying the way our buddy does.

The lying has worn KJP out. She looks beat up and exhausted from all the lying she does. She reports on an entirely different reality than that in which we live.

      3. Every time I catch her on television I can’t help saying to myself, “Fronting for Joe Biden must be the hardest job in the history of the world”…….

      4. I bet she was a True Believer at first but at some point she saw the man behind the curtain and realized she is pushing a Wizard of Oz style lie. Now she hates herself.

      5. MG and So Cal: I think KJP hates her job. Perhaps she has a conscience and the lying disagrees with her. I recall that she was a very attractive woman when first introduced to the public. She has not aged well over the last few years. She had a DUI about 6 months ago. The drinking may be related to fighting her conscience. Meanwhile, Gavin Newsom, who does not have a conscience and lies every day, looks fine, even young for his age. He is living proof that social pathology is more age rejuvenating than Botox.

  1. This will be Jens first HC hire at USC although I do think she had a hand in the football defensive hires this year.  It has to be right on. I doubt Mussleman will be the pick but I was wrong on the football HC pick. But then we all were. I don’t think USC is a blueblood basketball school so the idea of getting the very best (coach K) is not going to happen. Glad Andy is moving on, USC needs a new BB program.

    1. Not all. I had wanted someone who turned a program around, not merely been handed the keys to a program that was already doing well. I was cautiously optimistic when Riley was hired and hoped he would prove me wrong, the way Pete did.

      1. The bad thing for those of us who were excited about Lincoln is he proved us right….then he proved us wrong….

  2. If Rutgers is the new Arizona, does that mean USC is going to need 3OT to beat them this year?

      1. That defense couldn’t stop anyone. If he would have gotten a great DC when he first came over here, 2023 would have been his second year. He would have had new defensive players and they would know the defense(by the 2nd year). The offense had some problems but they still finished 3rd in the nation in scoring. They would have finished a lot better than 8-5. That was the biggest mistake in LR’s coaching career.

But LR is still very young….young enough to overcome such a mistake. He’s growing as a coach. I saw an interview with one of his former players who played for him from 2015-2018. He said that when LR was a OC he was very relaxed. He would tell a lot of jokes and kid around with the players. But when he became a HC, he saw the change. He was much more serious. He was growing as a coach then and he’s still growing now. I think the guy has a great career ahead of him. I think that they will have a really good team in 2024.
