Tracking Eric Musselman Developments

Eric Musselman has a massive rebuild ahead. I’m going to keep an eye on how he does with the talented Southern California Class of 2026.

Musselman was criticized in Arkansas for alienating in-state high school coaches and relying on the transfer portal.

He must work the portal to have a team for next year. But he can’t ignore the Class of 2026 local players like Brandon McCoy Jr., Jason Crowe Jr., Alijah Arenas or Tajh Ariza. They are all top 15 nationally.

He can’t let them just go to UCLA. He’s going to have to go hard after some of them.

  • Arkansas guard Khalif Battle has entered the transfer portal. He averaged 14.8 points this season. USC needs him. UMass forward Josh Cohen, who averaged 15.9 points, and was committed to Arkansas, has decommited and expected to go to USC.

UPDATED: Cohen officially committed to USC tonight.

  • Will Arkansas assistant coach Keith Smart (the former Indiana star) follow Musselman to USC? He is trying to get the Fresno State job.
  • Are USC students lined up for the arrival of Eric Musselman? No, they are waiting for rapper Travis Scott to appear at the USC Bookstore.
  • That’s USC senior associate athletic director Paul Perrier hiding in the back of the private plane bringing Eric Musselman to Los Angeles.

      1. Love the photo of God or Moses with a basketball So Cal. Does Nike offer that on a T-shirt? Better than Jordan. I bought a similar T-shirt in Italy of God touching the finger of Michael Angelo, Wore it in pick-up basketball games for years. Mixed reaction from opponents.

    did Cohen even kick the tires of other coaches to see if they would be a better fit? She oculd have gone to Duarte and look at Car Max, ford, BMW or any other car dealers just to see what is out there as a coach. Guys seems like a tyrant. I hope I am wrong.

    1. PT: Rumor is that Jen met Musselman at Taco Lita in Arcadia and they finalized the details of his contract over a bean and cheese burrito and a Pepsi. Musselman offered to treat Jen to El Tepeyac but Jen is a Taco Lita girl.

Troj: Nowhere near the Metro in San Jose. Get off the 10 freeway in LA at Soto St., go south, left turn on Wabash just off the fwy. and then a right at Evergreen. Hope I remember correctly. It wasn’t very far from CSULA. Manny the owner died about 10 years ago. A great personality. At 70 years old, would still come in early in the morning to make the stews for the burritos and would give his customers tequila shots when waiting in line at 11:00 a.m. and flirt with all the girls.

So USC’s Politically Correct DIE worshipping President Carol Folt didn’t have her new AD Jen interview any qualified black coaches and went for this Bobby Knight retread who had a losing record this season? Apparently there is not a Rooney Rule at Heritage Hall. Maybe Carol should take a Mandatory Unconscious Bias Training Class herself and hold an emergecy meeting of the 32 member committee of students, faculty, and staff to evaluate and strengthen support for DIE programs she created way back in May 2020 to identify structural and institutional processes that perpetuate racism and inequality in the USC presidents office and Heritage Hall.

Actually ‘Muzzleman’ tore his shirt off after he won a big game, so the fact the guy is sometimes over-the-top emotionally seems to be overriding the fact the guy can coach!– He turned around Nevada and Arkansas. After the ‘mellow-yellow’ Dandy Andy SC needed a drill sergeant type coach. Now if Muzzleman can just quiet down his F-Bombs and keep his shirt on SC might be on to something with this guy
