USC Spring Scrimmage Live

If you need a spring game takeaway, is the defense’s improvement going to offset the ordinary look of the offense?

Miller Moss with a short TD pass.

So far, Jayden Maiva has outplayed Miller Moss.

Miller Moss throws another interception on tipped pass and Prophet Brown goes 100-yards for TD. Tough day for Moss.

Third-string offense scores a TD as running back Bryan Jackson has 3-yard run.

Finally a touchdown. Jayden Maiava to Makai Lemon on a 17-yard play. The QB Derby is back on!

hird-string QB Jake Jensen now intercepted. Third of day for offense. The Caleb Williams Era is officially over.

Miller Moss now picked off by Marcelles Williams. Will USC miss Caleb Williams?

Jayden Maiava picked off by transfer DeCarlos Nicholson. QB derby over?

Lincoln Riley gets illegal substitution penalty on third down of first series.

With this crowd, maybe it’s good the game is on the Pac-12 Network. Less visibility.

Defensive lineman Anthony Lucas is already at the trainers’ table.

Bear Alexander is not suited up for the scrimmage because of an apparent hamstring injury.

This looks like first-team O-line from warmups:

LT: Elijah Paige

LG: Emmanuel Pregnon

C: Jonah Monheim

RG: Alani Noa

RT: Mason Murphy

    1. …Yes….But It won’t bring Caleb back…… for all his drama queen shit, he was head and shoulders over the QB’s we’re seeing today —- almost zero athleticism at that position today….

      3. Dude, what ailed me caused me to pretty much become inactive, and with having to wait 5 weeks to get into seeing a surgeon then waiting 3 more weeks for surgery then 6 more weeks of inactivity, a deli isn’t a good idea, more like fruits and vegetables or I’ll be a blimp in no time.

      4. That Deli thing was a test, karma! You passed! Vegetables and lean meat are the way to go —- [and drink lots of liquid]!

  1. It boosted Yogi Roth’s credibility all the way up to “10” when he said ALL the same things he said after the last Spring Game [and will say again after the Fall Game] — noticeable difference in size and strength of the players on both sides of the ball, team cohesion is building into something great, everybody feels THIS is gonna be the breakout season…..

      1. Twitter clips … the Prophet Brown INT … the snap from center was low and the pass was tipped. The Marcellus Williams INT … didn’t see it well enough to attribute it to anything. Miller Moss IS THE GUY ❤️

  3. Marcelias Williams, a freshman, looks like a starter. Kameron Fountain was also impressive. Looks like he will contribute. Newby looked good along with Devon Stephens and the freshman running back. I am thinking that our recruiting class may be better than advertised. Not discouraged by the spring game at all although the offense had 4 interceptions. The offense will be fine and the defense looks better, particularly in the secondary. We just need two NTs from the portal. Get Jay Toia from UCLA and one other guy. The TCU guy wants a $1.000,000 NIL package confirmation as a prerequisite for visiting the campus so he is out.

    1. Good news: The defense will no longer be our Achilles heal…

Bad news: The offense will struggle to put together long drives…

      1. We had defensive backs actually turning to look for the ball. That was an unknown during the previous DB coach. Nothing majorly wrong with the offense that can’t be coached and fixed. Ground game looked strong. Moss runs plays as designed, us fans are not used to that yet.

      2. You guys are right —- lots of reasons for optimism. I only meant we are likely to see an efficient offense which might be short on the kind of big plays Caleb spoiled us with. The other side of the coin? I think that’s exactly what the players and coaches want!

Ain’t it amazing what d-backs can do when they try to locate the ball in the air? That’s where interceptions come from….
