USC Sunday Buzz: When Will Commitments Come Out?

How long before commitments start leaking from USC’s big recruiting weekend?

Lincoln Riley has said three commitments are coming on social media.

  • USC has an amazing and glorious tradition in athletics.

That said, look at two incidents in the past month. It gave out an award for at least the second straight year where it botched the name of the longest tenured athletic director, Willis O. Hunter, and called it the Willis O’Hunter Award.

Then, the band called “Tusk” the fourth fight song of the university.

Both are embarrassing mistakes. Probably made by people who have little idea about history/tradition. There needs to be some gatekeepers. I doubt Notre Dame, which also has a rich tradition, makes mistakes as often.

  • The USC men’s track team finished third at the NCAA championships, its highest finish since 2003. The women’s track team finished 10th. USC’s Jasmine Jones won the 400-meter hurdles.

Florida won the men’s title while Arkansas won the women’s title.

USC has won 30 NCAA titles in track and field. People talk more about football and even baseball, but track has the most titles.

  1. Great effort by track and field considering the cost of a non-scholarship athlete has to pay if attending Troy – let’s get this year started with a solid beating of LSU a mere 12 weeks from today.

    1. Gabby: The government filed a lawsuit against Trump and his father for systematic discrimination in apartment leasing back in 1973. The Trumps denied the charge and filed a countersuit for defamation. The two cases settled out of court with no admission of liability. Is that all you got? An unproven allegation that’s over 50 years old. He still leases thousands of units every month. Anything a bit more recent.

      Trump never said Obama was different than other Black politician because he was “clean and articulate.” That came from Biden. Trump never said to a black audience that if the Republicans get elected their “gonna put y’all back in chains.” That was Biden. Trump never said to Black people that “if you vote Republican your not really Black.” Again, all these racist statements come from Biden. Maybe that’s why Senator Robert Byrd of WV, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK, took Biden under his wing. Byrds of a feather.

      And Biden has never had to worry about allegations of discrimination. Why? Because he never produced anything. He has been feeding off the government’s tit for over 50 years. He never provided someone with a job so they could feed their family. Trump did. Biden never provided anyone with a place to live. Trump did. And Trump never took 30 million in bribes from foreign interests to do them favors. Biden did.

      1. Plow Horse, you’re responding to someone who is now claiming to care about 200 Palestinians who were killed during the hostage rescue. People who truly cared about human lives did not vote for dementia, incompetence & weakness in 2020. Biden voters have a lot of blood on their hands, so it’s hilarious when they pretend to care about lives.

      Wolf made a mistake himself when he claimed Tommy Trojan used to be considered our shrine. He still is. Bartner made sure every member of the TMB knew the difference between our mascot, Traveler, and our shrine, Tommy Trojan.

  7. TRUE SC domination in track and field produced olympic and world champions and due to the BEST COACHING…saw many meets in the 50’s-70’s…ncaa finally killed SC by limiting scholarships. Did the same to football…ncaa demise is a blessing

  10. The “Willis O’Hunter” gaffe now seems ossified within the university. Maybe Scottie or an influential reader can get on the radar over there and straighten things out.

  11. trump did a rally Vegas today. It lasted about an hour…….30 minutes into the rally, people started to leave……..you can only take so much of his clown show

        That shows how bad their candidate is. Anyone with any sense at all knew that in 2020. They didn’t need to live through it, in order to know what a failure he would be and how many lives it would cost & how much suffering it would cause.   12. The men relays cost them at least 2nd place. No longer one of the strengths of the sprint core which has steadily diminished. Field events did enough to win it all. Women not the same w/o Smith-Gilbert recruiting although Georgia disappointed. ________________________________
