USC Notes: A Problem Worth Fleeing From

Did you see the headache Jen Cohen left when she departed Washington for USC?

Here’s the projected deficits:

So according to Washington, “much of the deficit can be attributed to (the) migration to the Big Ten conference and unanticipated expenses associated with the departure from the Pac-12.”

I think Cohen probably should give the Seattle media a comment about these dire numbers.

They won’t even project beyond 2025 and they think the problem will get worse in 2030 after they’ve finished borrowing against future Big Ten money. These projections include the $10 million they are borrowing from the Big Ten.

They are going to have repay the Big Ten $10 million per year beginning in 2031.

  • UCLA has selected Julio Frenk, current president of the University of Miami, to be its seventh chancellor. He has a background in public health.
  • USC announced Wednesday that beginning with the 2024- 25 school year, tuition will be free for students in the USC School of Dramatic Arts’ Master’s in Fine Arts program.
The university says the move comes “at a pivotal moment for the entertainment industry, as actors and writers navigate tightening competition for opportunities in film and TV.”

  1. I’m getting “moderated” a lot these days….but…. suffice it to say Frenk is perfect for UCLA….

  2. “Actors and writers navigate tightening competition” as in there are fewer movies and quality tv programs in which to ply their trade; the entertainment field is changing and leaving many behind

    1. Yesterday’s LAT print edition had a very very bleak picture of the motion picture/TV future due to enticement of filming elsewhere and huge tax breaks both domestic abd intl’. It also noted the impact the writer’s strike left on the prop companies….set designers and their crews….and AI.

      3. I hope you’re right. Dims are incredibly selfish. They don’t care how many die or how many suffer as a result of this administration’s incompetence & weakness. Mean orange man gone is all most of them care about.

They have so much blood on their hands, but just lie to themselves about it.

  3. Scooter,

I see the loss with the athelitc dept due to the incompetency of hiring head football coaches and then having to pay to get rid of them, Pac 12 tv revenues, Folt the Dolt turning away alumni who donate millions of dollars, the football program sucking for years, the apathy of football, and that lousy dj kowlski. Solutions to fixing the deficit: Fire Folt the Dolt and bring in a president that will be alumni supportive and make sure SC football is king. Recruit alumni back and have them open up the pocket books. Allow the alumni clubs back on campus. Cut back on the staff in the dept. It is too large. Market the heck out of SC. Advertise on tv and radio about the school and the athletic dept. Get back on track and get rid of the woke and politcal crapness and stay objective.

  4. Bohner left Cincinnati with a much bigger deficit. Washington may suffer for awhile with only a partial cut from the Big Ten.
