Will Big Ten And SEC Follow Big 12 On Naming Rights?

Some people have asked me today if the Big Ten or SEC will change their names like the Big 12 and Conference USA appear likely to do?

The huge difference is the SEC and Big Ten are coveted brands. They lose something with a name change.

I don’t like the idea of the Big 12 changing its name, but it’s not the same as the SEC or Big Ten. Frankly, this is something the Pac-12 should have done but George Kliavkoff was not a change agent and the presidents were too dense to make something like this happen.

Maybe the Pac-12 would still be around today if it had a naming rights deal.
