USC Returning To 710-AM

USC is leaving 790-AM and returning to 710-AM.

There will be football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball games broadcast, according to the radio station and university.

But . . . there is a catch. What happens when the Lakers play? What happens (much less often) when the Rams play? Safe to say USC men’s basketball will be on an alternate station (hopefully) unless streaming becomes the only alternative.

Radio isn’t considered as important as it used to be, as being on 790-AM demonstrated. But I wonder what happens when the Lakers play some Saturday games in November?

  1. Has anyone listened to 710 recently?

It is not sportstalk but just daily life stuff happening to uninteresting radio hosts.

The exception is around 1pm which is when the Lakers announcer has a show.

The rest of the day is awful and unlistenable.

Sports radio is not what it used to be in the days of Healy, Hessler and Sportsfan.

  2. So in 2019 SC leaves ‘710’ for a 5-year deal with ‘790,’ the deal is now over and SC is back at 710 in competition with the pros

  3. A Laker game in November is not as critical as a USC game in November.

And, the radio station of the local home teams isn’t that big of a deal yet when one still doesn’t have a coach and the other just went 8 – 5.

  4. Classi wolf…. rip on USC consistenly for not being on a real sports channel in 790, then when USC returns to one on 710, find ways to rip that decision as well.
