Would You Prefer Lincoln Riley Or Lane Kiffin?

I might as well ask whether you would prefer Lincoln Riley or Lane Kiffin as USC coach?

I can pretty much guarantee Paul Finebaum would go with Kiffin. Of course, if Riley were coaching in the SEC, Finebaum might have a different answer.

I’ll give Kiffin this: When he was at USC, he had to make a public appearance at a sporting goods store. I remember it well because I made fun of him for having to do it.

That’s the difference between the two. You could actually talk to Kiffin directly about things. He might not have liked doing public appearances but he did them. Riley lives in a hermetically sealed bubble. Even people that work with him say they never see him or talk to him.

      2. The Big Lie about Joe’s dementia and him being “fit for office” was exposed on June 27. Without the MSM helping to cover for Joe, he loses to Trump badly in 2020. But it was funny as hell seeing millions be surprised at the debate! The rest of us were not surprised. We knew he had dementia and had no business being the Leader of the free World.

        His Presidency is now going down in flames, the way smart people knew it would! So bad, his own party is asking him to walk the plank and GTF out of the race! Freakin’ hilarious!!!

    2. I agree Riley is probably better….but I think it IS close, Plow. Lane has proved himself in the years since he left USC [where he beat UCLA 50-0]. He crushed Tulane & Louisville. Beat two real good LSU teams. Jaxon Dart isn’t Caleb … but Lane has him doing what he needs to do.

      btw, Has Lane ever said who he thought was better —Saban or Carroll?

      1. Agree MG. I was comparing Kiffin’s time at USC to Riley’s time. When Kiffin was at USC, he seemed to be fairly raw. Did not have complete control over the program. Rumors of being struck by Kennedy Pola at half time of the Az. State game. Kessler or another QB would make a mistake and Kiffin would not speak to them on the sideline. Can’t build confidence that way. Deflating balls and lots of stupid pranks. He is much better now then when he was at USC. I think his tenure with Saban helped him tremendously. He is a good coach today.

  3. GLAD I do not have to choose.

    I like both of them,although they both had some trouble with their defenses,over the years; they both excel on the offenses.It seems both will have good years,and their defenses will be much better.I don’t think either is going anywhere.

    I also think Finebaum needs to rethink his statement.

  12. Kiffin was young and immature when he took the SC job, and he also made the most obvious mistake you could: never be the guy that follows a legend*. You want to be the guy after that. Ask Gene Bartow.

    *There are exceptions of course. IIRC Jolly John did OK after stepping into McKay’s shoes.
