USC Comes Close Twice Today

A bit of a double whammy today.

As expected, defensive tackle Floyd Boucard of Miami committed to Oklahoma today. No Coach Henny magic.

Linebacker Christian Gass of Covington, Ga., committed to Tennessee. He picked the Vols over Georgia and USC.

Now a recruiting class isn’t going to be judged by July commitments. But at some point, USC’s going to need to sign some defensive linemen, linebackers and, yes, cornerbacks.

  1. Riley is seeing the results of hanging on to Alex Grinch after the Utah & Tulane meltdowns….. If USC went 10-2 in Caleb’s final season Lincoln would still have that halo around his head…. 7-5 temporarily extinguished it…..

  2. All right and how many have declined offers from TN or GA for that matter any word on ‘the princess’ recruiting results.

We’re not going to get all we want – so be it. Accept it and prepare for the game. 6 weeks from tomorrow ABC national telecast 4:30 pm PDT

  3. Bitin: Let’s talk ‘minor’ issues for a while, like I support lowering the voting age but you decline

Stump: Don’t we have enough Democrats running around already!

  5. -Back to sports is there any way to quantify or measure how good a footballer is compared to other footballers, like on a 60-100 scale, giving every college player at least a ’60’ coming out of high school football.

So how does a ’60’ compare to a 95er, mathematically there is little difference

    1. Here’s one for ya, John — I replied “Melvin Durslag said the same thing about the slight differences between starters and non-starters” …..and I got censored.

  6. Now that the 2024 college football season is a breath away, I can’t help but think of the ‘absolute torture’ these young men are about to endure for our mere entertainment.

I guess it is rugby on steroids where you better love to hit with a helmet

    1. It is rugby on steroids. A rugby player once told me that trying to inflict pain and/or injury on your opponent is not part of the game and is frowned upon. Try telling that to the 1970s Oakland Raiders. “The quarterback must be hit and thrown to the ground on the first or second series.” – Al Davis

      1. Sean Payton: “May I top that Al Davis remark? I’ll pay $1500 for a QB knockout….and $1000 for a QB carted off field.”

  7. Bitin: It’s really too bad too, I still have a lot in the tank but I was at my worst in that debate and that’s all anybody remembers

Stump: But since you are staying on as an advisor I think we should continue our dialogue about the issues, I’m not sure if I’m ready for ‘Camelot’

    1. If Joe has so much left in the tank, he should be able to mount a comeback in 4 years, the way Trump is going to! Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!

They lie to themselves and make excuses for it. But it doesn’t change what I wrote.

    1. Not untried – she was an disaster as San Francisco DA, Calif. AG, and Vice President. She was the “border czar.” How did that work out?
