You know what is annoying about the current uncertainty around the USC-Notre Dame rivalry?
Notre Dame seems to be saying all the right things about continuing the historical rivalry while USC gives mixed messages.
“We have every intention in the world and every desire to keep that USC-Notre Dame game going for as long as it possibly can,” Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua told The Athletic. “Everything we’ve heard from USC and the people we’ve been talking to over the course of the last year and beyond is they’re gung ho as well.”
Did Lincoln Riley sound gung ho to play Notre Dame last week?
Where’s Jen Cohen? She’s been MIA on this topic, no doubt because she doesn’t seem willing to stand up to Riley on anything. Can’t she muster a comment that the rivalry should continue or is she petrified she might somehow offend her $10 million per year coach?

I don’t appreciate that political toilet talk. This is supposed to be about football. What in the entire world is better than football?? Yapping about this political thing or that political thing… to me it means that you’ve lost your senses and you are not football worthy. That’s a shame. We have big games coming up. We’re going to need every single fan to be involved. Don’t let the media tell you otherwise. Football is what matters in life. Not just because you’re a player or former player or a fan, because everyone should learn about life from football. Life matters. Life requires teamwork. Life requires a plan. We need to tackle problems in life. We need to cover areas that are our responsibility. We need to focus on the next play and not be distracted by the last one. We need effort and passion in every aspect of our lives. We need to appreciate those whom we compete against and we need to express our encouragement and love for the people on our team.

You can find Jen Cohen at her remote Athletic Depart office in Arcadia. It is called Taco Lita. She might as well be there because she is useless. If she had and care for SC she would tell Riley in no certain terms that he will show up to SC functions such as the dinner, and go and talk to recruits. But she does not and will not create a sense of urgency or motivation to get the team going in the right direction. BTW, she likes the bean and cheese burrito.
