USC Morning Buzz: Quarterback Overshadows Another Competition

Forget about quarterback, right guard remains a more interesting situation.

Lincoln Riley couldn’t even name a starter on Tuesday. In fact, he couldn’t even narrow the competiton down from three players. Alani Noa, Amos Talalele and Gino Quinones are all getting reps at the position.

As I said previously, if someone hasn’t emerged yet, it doesn’t speak well for what’s happened in training camp or beyond.

(We are) not quite decided there,” Riley said. “But we’ve got an idea of kind of who that top seven or eight are.”

I wouldn’t say USC is necessarily great at other spots like left guard or right tackle. But at least they have a starter. Right guard is a grab bag.

That could be a problem against LSU.

  2. actually competition is a good thing and should go on all season…and PC being on campus is a good thing, he has a lot of experience particularly in the defense area…

    the lincoln would be wise to seek out his input…

  4. So SC has narrowed its right guard search down to 3 candidates but can’t decide because they’re all equal. Hopefully they are equally ‘good’ and not just average

  5. News out of LSU was that many players got sick and were out of practice for a period but it probably doesn’t interfere much with LSU’s preparation
