USC Notes: A Couple Players Probably Should Have Hit Portal

There was a lot of talk in the spring about defensive lineman Elijah Hughes, who apparently did not play on Sunday.

It’s also curious why Raesjon Davis did not transfer somewhere else since he appears to be a second-tier player right now and did not play according to the official game stats.

Safety Bryson Shaw, who played a lot last season, probably should have looked elsewhere too since he did not play against LSU.

Now they will probably play against Utah State. But wouldn’t you want to play in games USC thinks it might not win?

  • USC has closed its upscale restaurant on campus, MoretonFig, that was opened with much fanfare as part of the new Tutor Student Center in 2010.

It’s now become a coffee bar.

It’s not surprising given that the university discourages the public from visiting campus these days, which has led to a noticeable decrease in foot traffic.

The university’s only bar, Traditions, closed during COVID and never re-opened. It was also part of the Tutor Center.

      1. “You should write laws for black people. Don’t group us in with everybody else.” Kamala Harris, nodding: “That’s right”

  2. I wonder what PC would have done with these players if he were still HC? I seem to recall his philosophy was to sub in multiple players on every down (especially on D) to keep team-wide stamina up and players rested (side benefit: larger number of players get in-game experience and particularly to keep the defense fresh – which was his emphasis). That must obviously not be the case with LR now, perhaps due to depth issues. Might be interesting to get PC’s commentary on his own down-to-down substitution philosophy, now that he is on campus once-a-week to teach his course at least…

    1. Keep in mind there was not a lot of difference between #1 team and #2 team under PC. We are still having to coach up guys to get them close to the starters. Give it a couple of year and lets see how it all works out.
