USC Notes: What Was Jim Harbaugh Doing?

I’m glad I’m not someone whose job it is to hype up the USC-Michigan game.

Michigan tight end Colston Loveland played in 18 snaps in last week’s win over Arkansas State before getting injured. His status is uncertain this week but he reportedly practiced.

Loveland has 187 receiving yards through three games, which is way more than the next-best player (Semaj Morgan, 56 yards).

Where is Jim Harbaugh when you need him? What did he leave behind? This reminds me of when Lane Kiffin got the USC job and during his first year and used to wonder to people what Pete Carroll had been doing given the roster Kiffin inherited.

  • Former USC band director Art Bartner is on his way to the Michigan game. Honestly, I’m surprised USC didn’t put him on the team charter.

  1. Scooter,

Hoping that SC and Michigan honor Bartner since that is where he came from. I am hoping he can lead the SC band and lead the Michigan band for the National Anthem. I am just hoping that they play the US National Anthem and not the Soviet Union National Anthem for that commie governor.

  2. Pigskin Thoughts beat Scott on this topic. Does appear that Harbaugh bailed. Really poor recruitment the last few years. How can Michigan not have a top quarterback given their history. Sherrod will be blamed for the poor performance but it probably is not his fault.

  3. Michigan roster should be pretty good, based on their recruiting the last few years, which has been inside top 10 or close to that. And there is also the portal, which Kiffin didn’t have back in the day.

    1. They have 3 future NFL guys on defense. Offense, not really. No quarterback and marginal receivers. If Michigan had Jayden Maiava, USC would likely not be favored.

  4. Charming: I like this telling jokes instead of our usual political hammering each other. For example, there was a young woman who said she was taking a guy she’s dating to meet her mother. Her friend replies, “Oh, you’re getting serious about him?”– “No, I’m trying to run him off”

Prince: I got one that the prosecutor in you will like– A friend visits a jail and asks, “Well Bob, why you in jail?” to which Bob replies, “Oh, I killed my wife and now I get 2-weeks.” You killed your wife and you only get 2-weeks in jail?”– Yeah, then they take me out back and hang me

  5. Ohtani goes 6 for 6 with 3 homers, 10 RBIs and 2 stolen bases to enter the 50-50 club. The Miami fans were so happy for him he had to take a bow. This guy transcends the Dodgers, it’s like he belongs to all of baseball
