With an early kickoff, I’m starting the the score predictions right now.
USC is a 15.5-point favorite. Will the Trojans cover?
- It’s parents’ weekend, so the campus is busy and decked out.

- I wrote about the 1963 Rose Bow but here is the 1953 Rose Bowl (in color), which also matched USC and Wisconsin. And yes, that is Marv Goux.
- More people attended this game (101,500) than the 1963 game (98,698).
- USC won, 7-0, and Trojans quarterback Rudy Bukich was named player of the game. His son, Steve, was a QB at UCLA in the 1970’s.
Unfortunately for Steve he took after Mom instead of Rudy. He was a good rugby player though.

To give Wisconsin 15.5 points seems high inasmuch as SC’s offense still has to prove itself

If our O-Line can’t stop Wisconsin’s truly crappy D-Line we have way bigger problems than the point spread…..

WI Head Coach Luke Fickell, was a real up and coming coach as Cincinnati’s HC 3+ yrs ago….I believe Bohn contacted him as did ‘the Princess” but he opted for WI. What is astounding is his hiring Alex Grinch as the WI DC….then againthe 49ers put Brandon Staley on their defensive staff.

Grinch is not the DC, he’s the safeties coach and co-DC in name only.

ok my bad …. must be a decent something or other because it sure isn’t his skill in defense. Getting hired in any defensive capacity after the long career and lack of success he had with Lincoln Riley is strange,at best.

Knowing Wisconsin will be bringing it tomorrow, but not so sure about SC is remindful of a Vince Lombardi quote– “If you aren’t fired with enthusiasm, you’ll be fired with enthusiasm”

Amazing that in sports how ‘the Mighty’ can fall fast witnessed by 2023 greats Michigan-Washington now shells of themselves, which actually adds to the fun of the fact that college football changes every year

It’s not amazing when both teams lose their head coaches and starting quarterbacks.

I guess Arizona’s solid record last year was more about Arizona and less about Jedd Fisch…..

As we saw last week, it’s hard to replace NFL first round draft choice quarterbacks.

Charming: When all this is done you ever think of retiring?
Prince: I figure 2 weeks is about the ideal length of time to retire because the role of a retired person is no longer to possess one

For SC at first it was tigers, then wolverines, now it is badgers with lions on their way. Thank goodness the Trojans get a break when the Cornhuskers come to town

Ha! That’s all of us these days my friend. When I go for a walk on the beach my wife asks when I’ll be back and I enjoy saying “it’s not when, it’s if.”

John,
Is that the way you feel about Jessica Rabbit from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”?

That ‘Good time Charlie feeling’ is still prevailing despite the Michigan ‘slip-up, but a Badger badgering might be too much

Agreed — but don’t worry. It ain’t gonna happen [unless the whole team is mourning the loss of Bear Alexander]…..

Funny dude that MG but I was thinking how Bear so quickly faded in our rear view mirror, no harm intended and ‘good luck

Got to slip one in but Dodgers win, Dodgers win, and what a year for ‘O’ aka Ohtani exceeding 50-50 home runs and stealing bases which means even at 6’4″ he runs like a gazelle, and the home runs he calls ‘socks’

Of course you would think SC’s players are ‘up’ for this game as much as Wisconsin. A lot of the guys are fighting for their job so all-out effort is expected. Besides, in this new football-era it is the first ‘Big-10 game in the Coliseum (sorry United), so it will be memorable

Great picture of Coach Goux. He was my freshman coach and recruited me. He was very intense. He was a very physical and would demonstrate with intensity.
