USC Sunday Buzz: Some Wisconsin Numbers

USC said the Wisconsin game was sold out.

So where were the fans Saturday? There were empty seats everywhere at the Coliseum.

Does this mean fans are buying tickets and not showing up? I don’t even know how USC counts the attendance anymore because it said the official crowd was 74,118.

That can’t be tickets sold because it was a sellout and Coliseum capacity is 77,500. It wasn’t actual people at the game because there were far less than 74,118.

Numbers seem to just get manufactured.

  • USC defensive tackle Kobe Pepe had one of the best games of his career with four tackles, the most of any defensive lineman. Would he have played as much if Bear Alexander were still getting snaps?
  • Wisconsin punter Atticus Bertrams was terrific yesterday. He averaged 49.8 yards on six punts; had three punts more than 50 yards and three punts inside the 20.

Bertrams, who is from Australia, actually signed with USC as part of the 2022 recruiting class before ending up at Wisconsin.

  • Former USC linebacker Tackett Curtis had two tackles yesterday. He also had the personal foul on the opening kickoff.

    Of course the Wisconsin punter’s average was bumped up 4-yards with that 74-yarder

    With many Big-10 schools having constant sell-outs SC is trying to save face by quoting how many tickets were sold instead of how many showed up

    1. Coach John Robinson used to say that it is imperative to catch the ball. Punt returners have to make sure they catch the ball! If they don’t catch it, the average roll is 10-15 yards. We had a ball roll inside the one yard line. The returner can always call for a Fair Catch. Just make sure not to muff it.

      On another note, I am a huge believer that all great kick returns start with 3 quick steps. Too often returners try to dance back and forth or go sideways. The best way to make the pursuit miss is to go right by them like a Gazelle.

  4. SC should enjoy the sell-outs propelled by out-of-towners while they last because when the novelty of an SC game wears off those thousands of visiting fans will dwindle

No one ever agrees with her stupidity, but she tries desperately to claim someone does.     2. You act like Kamala is soft on crime, So Cal. She’s anything but! Just the other day she told Oprah she’d personally shoot a home intruder [instead of letting the Secret Service do it]. Which reminds me of something….there’s a scene in Disney’s Lady and the Tramp where Tramp imitates a human while telling Lady how humans feel about dogs compared to human babies. A famous film critic pointed out how weird it felt to watch an animated dog pose as a real dog impersonating a human. With Kamala we have a cipher pretending to be a real person…. but now we’re watching an ENTIRELY different fake person than the one she impersonated for 4 years as Vice President [i.e., before she was gifted the presidential nomination by her completely corrupt Party].

    If Riley leaves at the end of the year, who do you think SC would hire as the head coach? My Short list is, Lynn, SC’s dcordinator, Maybe take a chance on Kiff or Sark again. Maybe Smith the former Glendora High, Oregon St. qb and head coach as well.

  15. Baseball is mostly a one-man game, the pitcher. Good pitching usually cancels out good hitting, and a reason the Dodgers often fail in these short series
