Morning Buzz: USC Is Better Than Minnesota But . . .

USC is better than Minnesota and should beat the Gophers on Saturday.

But are the Trojans “overwhelmingly better.”

That is an issue because Lincoln Riley consistently demonstrates that he doesn’t like playing teams that are in any way a challenge. He needs an clear edge over an opponent to ensure that he doesn’t have the possibility of choking.

Minnesota is only 2-3 but they gave Michigan as good a game as USC. And with a night game and great home atmosphere, I could see this game posing some issues for Riley that ultimately, he should be able to overcome.

Think back to the Arizona games the past 2 years or Oregon State 2 years ago. USC won all three and was obviously the better team but they had some pretty stressful moments.

  • The USC-Gonzaga exhibition basketball game in Palm Desert will be played Saturday, Oct. 26th at 5 p.m. and be streamed on B1G+. Tickets will go on sale next week for the game at Acrisure Arena.

  2. The offensive line should be able to protect Moss against the Minnesota defense. If not, we will lose big time against Penn State and probably Notre Dame.

    1. Plow –I think it’ll be impossible for Minnesota to outscore USC ….whether Miller gets a lot of time to throw or not. But —you’re right– that won’t be the case against Penn State.

      1. Riley was asked about whether he was concerned that Moss is getting hit too much and what he intends to do about it. He just shrugged off the question and acted like it was no big deal. It’s football. I didn’t like that answer.

      2. …when Grinch allowed last minute score by Utah to steal game from the Trojans Riley said “it was a hard way to lose…but these things happen in football.”

  3. Are the Trojans “overwhelmingly better” than the Gophers– No. This 2024 SC edition has more grit than talent and every game is 50-50 or close to it, which means you’ll lose a few over the course of the Season

    1. Here’s the trick: Re-word your posts, John. Take out references to football and plug in the words “dildo” and “outhouse” and something about “wiping your chin.”

  4. DL Floyd Boucard committed to USC today.

He’s in Florida but originally he’s from Canada.

6’3″ 315, he used to play hockey and basketball

Kid had a ton of offers ( Bama, Georgia, Oregon to name a few ), recently decommitted from Oklahoma

    1. Coach Henderson wanted Boucard badly. He is extremely quick and athletic for his size but lacks football experience. Good pick-up. Hopefully he is willing to play in Spring practice and all the games if needed.

    1. Second gentleman Doug Emhoff, a 59-year-old slimeball Hollywood lawyer, struck his then-flame, a successful New York attorney, in the face “so hard, she spun around” as the two waited in the valet line following an event at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2012. Will Kamala wear a black dress to show solidarity with the victim like she did during the Kavanaugh hearings?

  5. The regular college football season is aleady 1/3 over, it goes fast. SC has a tough 5-game stretch, primarily on the road, and then it gets a bye before 3 home games (Rose Bowl is a de facto home game) to finish the Season
