Let’s measure how delusional Lincoln Riley is right now.
Here’s a few statements from last night:
1.) “We’re probably two plays away from probably being 5-0.”
2.) Asked if he lamented any decisions last night: “Not off the top of my head, no.”
3.) When Jamil Muhammad was asked if Minnesota scored a TD on the fourth-down sneak, Riley interjected “Who cares what he says on that? Like what, player’s opinion? Let’s ask a more professional question.”
Riley isn’t head coach material

I saw the post game presser. Lincoln had that look of a kid being asked to jump off the high dive who’s afraid of water. He is VERY close to cracking. I’d be happy if he beat Penn State next week. It could spare us all another “pneumonia” announcement.
[I’d feel sorrier for Lincoln if he didn’t keep Grinch and Henson way too long, demand his driver let him off at the front steps of his office so he could avoid “walking 50 unnecessary feet” and demand umpteen millions of dollar to find a way of blowing game after game after game in the 4th quarter]…..

It’s a question asked on a day when Lincoln isn’t freaking out….

Touche- this is getting old. The guy is totally defensive, cant fix his faults as a head coach and doesn’t want to. Is dead set on getting in his own way. The culture is what it is there- and as a head coach, you have to set the tone. His tone is- we are fine, no need to make changes etc.. Everyone else can see the teams issues and he does nothing to fix it. We are paying him an incredible amount of money to be average.

We’d have to stay 100% healthy and win every game left on our schedule to get back into the Top 12 —-and, let’s face it……..

Since that loss to Utah in 2022 Pac 12 title game, Riley is 11-9. Not exactly the big time results you’d expect $10,000,000/year to bring you.

Once you come to the realization that you do not have the right head coach to take the program back to competing for championships, then you must move on immediately. If not, you are just wasting time and delaying the inevitable.
Is USC at this point yet? I am not 100% certain, but I think it’s close to being realized.

LOL !!!!!!
Having lived through Tollner, Hackett and Helton, do you really think USC is going to move on from Riley when they owe him almost 70 million dollars ?
They wouldn’t dump the others for far less money ( Tollner and Helton were given extensions before USC figured out they couldn’t coach ).
Riley isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Well if that’s the case, then I guess we have to just hope for the best. The one thing that gives me hope that this current regime can be successful, is Texas. If Sark and Texas can get there, then Riley and USC can.

Oh, USC is VERY close to realizing it…. but it’s not a top priority ….. & they don’t want to waste Equity & Inclusion Project $$$ doing anything about it……

And remember this, USC no longer cares if football is king, I’d bet they’re just fine with what’s going on. Folt couldn’t care less, she’s got ZERO clue about the football tradition at USC and ZERO interest in returning it to the power it was. At this point she’s more worried about her one year contract not getting renewed

100% —why would anybody think otherwise? How many millionaires at her private Brentwood parties give a flying crap about college football? They’re focused on Marxian Redistribution —sorta like the dreamy elitists who kidnap George Clooney in “Hail Caesar”….

Carol Folt went to UCSB where they dropped football 30 years ago. Their big Blue-Green rivalry is with Cal Poly in soccer. Carol would like that at USC.

Riley appears to be well into the process of taking USC football to the next level. Unfortunately, it’s the next level down: irrelevance.

A lost LA weekend. ??
Down goes SC UCLA Lakers Rams and Dodgers.
Dave Roberts could be dead man walking if they lose games 3 & 4 down south.
Equivalent to Dodgers losing to Padres is Oregon losing in 1st round of playoffs to some crappy power 5 team. Guggenheim cannot be happy. They spend a fortune only to get ice cold bats every October.

What if the 2 ex-bruins don’t do a Keystone Cops routine in the Michigan game and SC doesn’t have an interception and fumble in the closing half of the Minnesota game and hence is 5-0, we’d hear “Wiley really has turned this team around,” or “He’s the brightest young coach out there”
But alas the reality is 3-2 and now Wiles is being compared to ‘Ton-o-Hel’, the ultimate insult, which takes a lot of the bloom off the Penn St game

..perhaps that reply needs some elaboration…
IF [big IF] Riley doesn’t make the playoffs ….but….USC beats Penn State, UCLA and Notre Dame —–this could be a fun year …and Lincoln will recapture a bit of luster…..
On the other hand, he certainly doesn’t want to fall short of what Clay Helton did …..which is beating Penn State……

What if SC ‘s Elijah Paige doesn’t miraculously recover that Woody Marks fumble in the LSU game at the USC 12-yard line. Imagine if LSU took over at the 12 with a 17-13 lead? SC would have 3 losses . Don’t play the what if game.

Back in the day, 1 loss, certainly 2 losses would eliminate a team from a chance at a National Championship, but today 10-2 probably gets you in the Final-12 Playoffs with a chance to win the Title.
So SC still has a ‘chance’ similar to “Dumb and Dumber where the Dumb guy asks a pretty girl what the chances are of dating her to which she replied, “One in a million,” and he exclaims, “So you’re saying there’s a chance”

The SC defense is good enough to win most games, but the offense is the problem with a sieve for an offensive line

In watching the highlights of some NFL games yesterday it was very unusual to see sacks or hurries initiated by the rushing defensive lines, that’s how hard it is to reach the quarterback with even an average line. But SC’s attempts at recruiting the ‘Big Guys’ up front fell on deaf ears

Many of the big linesmen recruiting failed because at least in the beginning SC didn’t have much of a NIL presence and many of these kids come from non-rich families
