USC Notes: Are Trojans Getting Better?

Hasn’t USC been consistently average all season?

It really is a reflection of its 4-4 record. I see some people trying to highlight individual players each week as they try to find silver linings.

But overall, the team looks pretty average, outside of maybe the first two games.

This is where Lincoln Riley and Joel Klatt will say USC is three plays away from being 7-1 or four plays away from being 8-0 but has the play really excited you as a fan outside of maybe the LSU game?

Maybe if the team looked better after eight games, it would be a cause for hope. But I don’t think they look better.

  1. Penn St has the biggest game of its recent history coming up Saturday when Ohio St, winners of the last 7 games in a row between the two, comes to Happy Valley

  2. Who has the best team this year? Oregon has a lot of talent but they struggled the first few games and I think last years team with Bo Nix was better than this team and they lost twice to an inferior Washington team. Ohio State has talent but couldn’t beat Oregon and is inconsistent. Penn State and Indiana are pretenders. Texas has a lot of talent but is inconsistent and Sark always manages to find a way to blow it. Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama are good but not great. This is actually a down year for the SEC. No great teams this year. I see a lot of average teams and USC is one of them.

      1. That is a big “if” PT. Indiana is well coached and executes their plays but I think Oregon and Ohio State is in another world talent wise.

  3. I have to admit Caleb Williams might have been a ‘diva’ but he also had incredible ability to make plays as he ‘ad libed’ from what was being sent in form the sidelines. It seems Moss has ‘heart’ but not the skill that is needed with the OL being what it is and also the defense is still a year away from knowing how to ‘close games’. As much as many want to blame Moss and Riley for the implosion in the 2nd halves in all the losses – the defense has been ripped in each loss key with ‘one’ poorly executed play resulting in huge gains at the end when it is critical the line be held.

This is a good year for college football as there isn’t one team (AL) dominant as has been the case for the past decade+….. Miami-FL, IA St., IN BYU & Pitt are the five surprises so far all undefeated in addition to OR, PA St..

TX A&M has the inside lane with the showdown with TX 30th Nov., prior to the SEC CCG 7th Dec. in ATL.
