Carol Folt Retiring At End Of School Year

USC president Carol Folt announced she is retiring at the end of the academic year in July 2025.

The writing was on the wall back in July when I wrote that she received a one-year contract extension. She sought three years.

But this was on the heels of the mismanagement of the protests on campus regarding Gaza and her hasty decision to cancel graduation ceremonies, which turned out to be extreme overreaction.

What is her legacy?

Well, you can’t deny she supported athletics. She played a big role in USC leaving the Pac-12 for the Big Ten; paid $100 million to hire Lincoln Riley and is spending hundreds of millions for the new football building, new baseball stadium and new women’s soccer stadium.

The view of her on campus outside of athletics is far less sanguine. There were high hopes following the iron-handed rule of Max Nikias but Folt actually was quite similar. Employees could fall out of favor in an instant and there’s quite of list of departures one could compile. She also didn’t seem to take responsibility when things went south. Has she ever addressed the reasons behind the resignation of Mike Bohn?

Morale on campus has also fallen in the past year with tone-deaf handling of graduation; layoffs and budgets being slashed.

P.S. — What happens to the $8 million house in Santa Monica she forced USC to buy for her?

      1. Van didn’t have to tell us that. We’ve known that about Cowardly Gabby for years. That’s why one of her many names is “Village Idiot”.

      1. Well, it had to be painful, considering that before the election, she made it VERY obvious that she was stupid enough to believe all of Kamala & the MSM’s lies. She repeated them so often in her posts!

  2. ‘Without-a-Folt’ has enough money tucked away for several lifetimes, although it sounded as if she wanted to continue working (seeking a 3-year contract). Looks as if it’s kind of a ‘forced out’ situation, but athletically-speaking, she gave SC football all the money they wanted

      1. Not the same pension plan. USC is a private institution and Folt was President for a relatively short period. No way should she be getting a 500K pension.

    1. It sounds like Jakobi Lane doesn’t blame Moss for the lack of offensive production and losses. He puts it on Riley. Another likely transfer.

  3. Mission number one for the new school president. Get USC financially back to respectability. Get rid of all the DEI “Coordinators” and other useless faculty.

      1. Who likes to get a fist up her backside, preferably by a minor. No one else would mention both so much in her posts and her posting name. Sick.

  4. Nebraska gonna come here and hit hard and don’t see a favorable outcome. Get the qb change idea but if you think this switch changes program outlook, it ain’t happening. A win against NEB would be a fluke.Look at fucla, they playing hard lights out and clearly love playing for Fos. They’re gonna punch SC in the mouth and not look back. Then ND. This program is teetering into obscurity and if trajectory doesn’t change within 9 months I wouldn’t buy stock in anything SC brand moving forward.

  5. DON: So how are you taking your loss?

KAM: I’m a woman, I’m sensitive. It hurts

DON: I had it worse in 2020 when I won and you said I lost

  6. So SC’s Miller Moss might be going to Michigan. Good choice; the Wolverines recall how ‘Miller-Time’ struck them for 3 late touchdowns to effectively beat Michigan

  7. –And that Michigan late 63-yarder to set up beating SC, to “win” but then to lose in that fashion sucked some confidence out of our ‘boys

But this certainly is a team with a great deal of talent and they are better than their record. Nebraska, YUCLA&Neuter Dame will have their hands full

But that was with Moss. The new kid hasn’t proven himself yet

  8. -But this is another ‘blackeye’ for SC, demoting your starting quarterback with 3-games to go. ‘Morality’ aside, going with your seasoned quarterback was the best bet unless we’re throwing away the rest of the Season
