Remember a couple weeks ago at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new football building, I lamented that USC needed to rely on a 91-year-old donor to make the a $50 million donation?
Well, I spoke to another donor who was at the ceremony and has made significant contributions in the past.
“(Athletic director Jen) Cohen spoke and then while big donors were hanging around talking, she was off facetiming and showing off her shoes and those of someone else and ignoring conversations with donors.”
- Who would have guessed in the offseason that heading into the Crosstown Rivalry, UCLA’s defense would be ranked No. 48 and USC No. 67? Not D’Anton Lynn.
- The Big Ten just sort of announced Tuesday that Oregon had qualified for the conference championship game. It had no idea over the weekend. If the Pac-12 had done something like that, the national media would have had a field day.
- Parker Jefferson, a three-star center from Inglewood High School, will announce tonight at 7:15 if he will commit to USC or Minnesota. Let’s see if he will continue a recent trend where USC finishes No. 2 in a basketball recruiting battle.
- Eric Musselman was at the Westchester-Chatsworth game last night watching top 10 players Alijah Arenas and Tajh Ariza play each other. It’s considered a longshot that either would pick USC. But at least Musselman went to the game.
- Snoop Dogg was at USC on Tuesday for an event with the entrepreneur program.
- Look how quickly Carol Folt’s administration can change its mind when there is a public backlash.

SC needs a no nonsense president and AD. What a joke to have the AD look at her shoes while the donors are there. She should have been shaking hands and discussing the future of SC sports with them. Maybe they are hiring at Taco Lita in Arcadia. She would fit in there perfectly.

The problem is that a vast majority of these university presidents do not want admit to the fact that the football program is the front yard to the university. As Bear Bryant once stated, “I’ve never seen 80,000 people show up to watch a math test.”

USC football fans have to hope and pray that the new President will actually have some knowledge of sports and USC’s rich football history, fire the AD, buyout Riley and maybe, just maybe, USC can field a great team again.

Buy out Riley? Let’s hope the recent NCAA violations allow us to show him the door without it. If so, they’d better do it while they can and not say 1 or 2 years down the road that we “should have done it while we could”.

“Bear posted on Saturday morning that he was in Athens and he was wearing a Georgia shirt.
According to a UGA message board: “…Alexander would like to come back to Georgia. We have also heard that Georgia is not entertaining the idea of bringing him back.”
So Alexander may have been at the game as a fan, but according to this, he was not invited by the program as a visitor.
Even with all the drama that has surrounded Bear Alexander during his college career, some team out there will certainly offer to bring him in. But based on this report, it won’t be Georgia.”
