Daily Bruin Reverses Course And Now Will Play In Blood Bowl

UPDATED: The Blood Bowl is suddenly back on for Friday at 3 p.m. at the IM field next to the McKay Center at USC.

Do you think this post below had something to do with the Daily Bruin’s decision to play in the game.

Original post below:

I’m told the Daily Bruin has pulled out of the annual Blood Bowl flag football game with the Daily Trojan.

This game has a storied tradition. Randy Johnson played for the Daily Trojan in the early 1980’s and Chick Hearn was the offensive coordinator for the Daily Trojan in 1956.

The Daily Bruin was supposed to host this game but then made said it would not be able to (just like it did last year and the year before). The Daily Trojan moved Friday’s game to USC but the Daily Bruin still canceled, citing lack of transportation and even Friday night’s huge UCLA-Cal State Fullerton basketball game as reasons for not playing.

This game has routinely gotten TV coverage.

But it seems harder than ever to get people to respect traditions. In the 1950’s, it would have been unimaginable to cancel the game. In the 1980’s, it would have been unimaginable. Oh well.
