Former USC QB Sean Salisbury was on the Dan Patrick Show today and this quote was relevant to me.
“Weekly I meet with Bruce Matthews . . . I talk to a lot of former players . . . They want to dominate the line of scrimmage. Until we do that at (USC) on both sides of the ball, we will not consistently beat good teams,” Salisbury said.
Here’s the excerpt:

— Dan Patrick Show (@dpshow) November 26, 2024
"It baffles me that we can't get a defense to get stops. They make too many mistakes on offense and physicality is a big problem from them. If it doesn't get fixed Riley will be coaching somewhere else. pic.twitter.com/YVsdrDhvSx
Sean obviously missed the UCLA game…. The defensive front seven got stops and were extremely physical. Just radio rhetoric.

Yes Usc played pretty well against one of the weakest offensive

USC isn’t going to dominate the lines when billionaires like Larry Ellison’s Michigan alum wife can now buy players for their favorite teams. Our era is of football dominance is over unless we fight dollars with dollars. https://x.com/1045espn/status/1861526182845452566

Sean Salisbury speaks as a true Trojan. Lincoln Riley is incapable of bringing USC back to glory. He needs to go.

Wait a minute here! SC has not had enough great linemen at any one time since Carrot left from 2010 to today, so the Trojans’ “glory” days are of years past

But the coaches after Carrot didn’t get paid $10 million a year. Riley has had 3 years to restore the glory days and the teams are getting worse each year.

— Wiley said that this constant shifting of players is not just on the players, but it is the schools that often change their mind on a player, such as a Ohio St coach saying to a prospect, “Sorry man, but the NIL deal didn’t go through for you and besides, we found another guy”

Unless we get a billionaire to bankroll our players we won’t be able to compete against teams like MICH. https://x.com/1045espn/status/1861526182845452566

–So ol’ Wiles inherits a team from Heton lacking quality linemen. He flubbed his first 2-years but is making headway now with the SC defense giving up 34 points last year to 21, and he said that he has quality young players that ‘he’ is developing

He is making headway only scoring 19 points against the 4th worst team in the Big Ten.

Hopefully the come-from-behind YUCLA win fortifies the team by knowing they can finish a game to victory

But ND has a defense too, it will be hard sledding for Woody, and the game probably lies on the shoulders of the ‘Second Stringer’
