How Will USC Respond To Losing Miller Moss?

This is hardly unexpected given the final three games of the season but Miller Moss has officially entered the transfer portal.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up and how he does with new coaching. Moss was a loyal Trojan and a good role model for USC.

It also puts the spotlight back on the QB position: USC needs to get a quarterback out of the transfer portal.

Does Lincoln Riley want to go into next season with Jayden Maiava as the only experienced QB? Does he think Maiava is good enough to start every game next season?

We will know the answer by the quality of quarterback he tries to sign from the portal.

USC’s player won’t put up a fight. 4. Drive Riley to the airport after the game so he can be given the Kiffin Tarmac treatment. 5. Come back to a USC game in 2026 for your Jersey Retirement Ceremony for saving USC Football.

  2. It was hilarious seeing CBS do a spot on all the Trojans who can’t say Czaplicki’s name correctly, while Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson said Maiava’s name incorrectly throughout the game!

    1. Riley follows the standard Corporate Schmuck Golden Rules of the Peter Principle Crowd. 1. Never Admit You’re Wrong. 2. If you get exposed as being wrong, have someone available to throw under the bus. 3. If you run out of people to throw under the bus (like Grinch and Moss) and before you get fired, quit to either a) pursue “other opportunities”, b) “for personal Reasons” or c) “to spend more time with the family”. 4. Find a new gig 5. Start over at Golden Rule #1. I am amazed how many people I have seen successfully execute this in business over the years.

  5. In reading Moss’ comments to ESPN- he was sending a clear message-

    “He said he’s looking forward to engaging with different coaching staffs about systems.”

    “I think that’s something that I’m excited about in terms of the process,” he said. “Being able to dive into different systems with different coaches and places and see what I gravitate toward in that process.”

    Moss stressed the positive experience he had at USC, including earning a bachelor’s degree in law, history and culture, with a minor in business finance.

    He said his emotions leaving are more of excitement than nerves, as he’s curious what the college football experience is like somewhere other than USC.”

    What he’s saying is he finally realized that he wasn’t developed here, wants to be part of a team that is vying for at least a conference championship, and be part of a winning culture. All of the things Riley isn’t providing the team. While I didn’t think Moss was the right fit for the program- in the right system- with a real offensive line- he will be good.

      Well said. I also think Riley knows that he is on the hot seat and people want to see the rpo with Maivia. However, I don’t think that he is ready to play qb. That is my opinion. There were times that he could have ran the ball, unless Riley has told him not to.

      Moss is the type of player that you want on the team. He fought his rear end off and he took heavy hits because of that. I wish him the best

  6. Neither QB has mobility in the pocket or accuracy. We’ll be .500 again next year at best with either of those QB’s. Remember that it turned out that our schedule was one of the easiest in the Big 10.
