USC Notes: Sam Greene Enters Transfer Portal

I’m a little surprised by this because I’ve liked defensive end Sam Greene since he showed up in spring practice as an early enrollee and he was starting at the end of this season.

He had 15 tackles and two QB hurries this season. Greene would have expected to be a key contributor next season but now Coach Henny will need to find someone else.

  • Steve Sarkisian lost the SEC Championship game? Shocking. He doesn’t lose big games. Just kidding.
  • USC men’s water polo defeated Fordham in OT, 18-16, in the NCAA semifinals and advanced to Sunday’s national championship game vs. UCLA.
  • Former USC safety Xavion Alford had a team-high seven tackles for Arizona State in their victory over Iowa State today in the Big 12 Conference championship game.

    1. I wonder if the Greene transfer has anything to do with the 2 million NIL package given to Jahkeem Stewart, an unproven Freshman. That is a one year contract. You have to figure Stewart will play next year leaving one less spot for Greene and Hughes.

  1. Private enterprise buying an interest in college football teams might be the way to go. That way a level playing field with the NIL would develop through their competition. So with NIL not being a factor,, maybe the California kids will stay and not stray, and instead go to their favorite Los Angeles school (hopefully not ucla)

  2. It is the second round that is of interest with Oregon in all likelihood going against Texas. A very tough draw for the ‘Webfoots’ No 1 seed, when Texas is effectively a No 3 seed ahead of the other automatic qualifiers, Boise St and ASU. Like they say, not a perfect system

  3. Having my entire life rooted for the West Coast teams in the Rose Bowl over the Mid-Westerners, I was actually rooting for Oregon to show the rest of the country we are not soft in the West

  4. Penn St does not like being the No. 3 team in the Big-10 behind Ohio St and Michigan. Well, now they’re No. 4 behind Oregon too

  5. Those were some sad Penn St fans’ faces in the beginning of the game as Oregon just dominated their team, kind of a “Here we go again. Coach can’t win the big ones”
