USC Notes: UCLA Targets Ex-Pete Carroll Assistant

UCLA is targeting Fresno State defensive line coach Jethro Franklin, per Pete Thamel. Franklin was an assistant coach at USC under Pete Carroll.

  • Texas A&M opened as a 2-point favorite over USC in the Las Vegas Bowl, according to Circa Sports. Hard to bet until you know who is on the team or playing.
  • USC has offered Arizona transfer offensive lineman Wendell Moe and two players from Purdue: Defensive back Kyndrich Breedlove (three interceptions) and wide receiver Jaron Tibbs. USC has also offered San Jose State defensive back DJ Harvey (four interceptions).
  • USC defensive end Sam Greene has received offers from Minnesota, Kentucky and Georgia Tech.
  • I realize there are not many people left in the athletic dept. with an understanding of USC traditions or history. But someone there made a grave error.

The athletic dept. should not recognize a streak that does not exist. This fan did not attend most games in 2020. His streak of consecutive games ended. It is over. The 2020 games counted in the official NCAA records. So you cannot pretend they did not take place.

The athletic dept. is also dishonoring USC superfan Giles Pellerin, who actually attended 797 straight games, by recognizing someone who is being dishonest about their own streak.

The athletic dept. needs to get its act together on this subject. They are enabling a false streak.

  1. Jethro is lame, he was the defensive coordinator in the National Title
Game at the Rose Bowl with no way to stop Texas QB.
