USC is obviously going to need to take more transfers than originally envisioned by Lincoln Riley during the regular season.
Bowling Green running back Terion Stewart and UCF cornerback Chasen Johnson are visiting USC today.
This will raise another question: Will it be possible to create the proper team chemistry if you need to bring in a lot of transfers?
I would say yes if you have someone like Dan Lanning or the latter-day version of Lane Kiffin as your leader. But Riley has already demonstrated at USC he’s not gifted as a leader of men.
What he needs for success is a combination of gifted players and an easy schedule. People forget in Riley’s first season he did not play Oregon or Washington. The schedule was basically a joke and then the final four games (UCLA, Notre Dame, Utah, Tulane) and USC could only manage to go 2-2.
- USC offensive lineman Kalolo Ta’aga has entered the transfer portal. He’s a true freshman! He hasn’t even finished his second semester of college yet and he’s off to the portal. Welcome to college football.
That’s four USC offensive linemen in the portal in the past week.
- Former USC QB Malachi Nelson, currently at Boise State, intends to enter the transfer portal.

Notice the schools that Riley is targeting for players. Bowling Green, UCF, SJSU, he’s fishing for low cost players

wolfman, as always, your powers of observation are unmatched in the annals of modern American journalism. Someone better remind Sir Lincoln of Riley that Wolfie has already run Hackett, Sark and Kiff outta town, so Riley better kiss the ring and cozy up to wolfman before he decides to put another notch in his typewriter case!

The transfer portal has already ruined college football and will continue to do so. Riley, is such a poor recruiter of high school talent year after year he has to nearly re-build the entire team through the portal so there is no identity to this team it’s no longer We are SC manly “I am a temporary hire, and will be moving on soon” Just watch attendance is going to drop drastically in the next few years the USC program is ruined ….

Erosion of the brand is underway at USC. Congratulations LR for bringing your reverse Midas touch to the job. I still think that the Moss portal entry was the trigger for all the defections. This happens when the HC makes a QB change call mid-season after multiple losses simply to make it appear that he is changing something for the better. The right move was realizing his playcalling, particularly in the fourth-quarters of close games this season, was total bull-puckey. Now just watch Moss, who the entire team rallied around as their leader, goes on to win a Heisman next year, while USC finishes 4-8 without him.
